When calling to ask what my PD was for my script so I can order glasses online. The girl at the front desk proceeded to act like it was such an inconvenience to answer my questions regarding this number that the website is requesting she said you can just guess that's what I do. I said ok well I don't just want to "guess" when it comes to my vision. She then proceeded to huff and say "omg" as if I was asking for the world. Now I see why so many people don't recommend going to the eye clinic of Fairbanks. I then asked for the manager who had just as much attitude. NO THANKS DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I have had multiple bad experiences here. I started bringing my husband in because at first he didn't believe me. My initial experience was good, anything about servicing for new lenses or warranty, they changed what they said every time I went in. He's now seen it multiple times, he was more fired up today than I was because I knew I couldn't get new goggle glass and my insurance pays for new lenses/glasses every other year. This time they told me my prescription was expired and they couldn't do anything about it, I work 7 12's 6am-6pm so when I got the time they didn't have the time for me or to ever call me to say hey, we would like to see you. I will be going elsewhere. I was warned when I first saw them by multiple friends they did bad business.
I had a great experience here today. It was the first eye exam I've ever had and everyone that I encountered was super nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. The office and exam rooms were clean and organized. The the doctor and the ladies who did some of the tests were very caring and thorough. I definitely felt at ease and the wait time wasn't bad either. Looking forward to going back
This clinic has failed to provide a full refund of my contacts order including the value of my insurance benefits used on my contacts. I have been waiting for the contacts I have ordered from them since May. This is over a $500 purchase that I have not received for almost 3 months now. Further, when I first left the clinic I asked if there was a copay and was told no. The clinic has the audacity to call me repeatedly for a $10 copay that I was originally told didn't exist when they owe me over $500.
When I first went to the clinic, the technician dilated my eyes when she was not supposed to, so I had to come back a week later. When I came back, the scheduling team had incorrectly scheduled me so that the test that Dr. Wilbur had ordered was not available to be done that day -- so again, I had to return a week later.
Since then, I have had to repeatedly call to ask about my contact order. At one point, I was initially told that my contact brand was discontinued, and that I would hear from the office within the next week about options after they spoke with the doctor. That did not happen, so two weeks later I called back. I was then told that the contacts were not discontinued and they were simply on backorder and I would receive them in a week. That was in late June. It is now August.
Since then, I was told that my order was cancelled by the manufacturer twice, only after I called to ask for an update. One of those two times, it appeared that the staff had no clue that the order was cancelled until I asked them to check.
I have had to drive back to the clinic 4 times to pick up sample contacts because they have failed to fulfill my order. The last two times I was offered bi-weeklys (I wear dailies) that I was told were a "slightly incorrect fit but should be fine" then most recently I was offered the choice between bi-weeklys that were the wrong prescription ( a +0.5 difference) and monthlies. I have been wearing the monthlies and my eyes have not stopped burning for the past several days even after stopping wearing them for a day. Frankly, the clinic should consider themselves lucky they aren't getting sued yet.
I have been going to the Eye Clinic of Fairbanks for the past 6 months and have been so impressed by their staff & the return of Dr Zamber.
The clinic was getting a bad wrap & was. Poorly managed by someone else. Dr Zamber & his staff have returned & are offering quality eye care. They are a little understaffed right now & still trying to bring their service to a higher standard. I you get a message when you call leave one & they will return your call.
DO NOT GO HERE - all the other one-star reviews are accurate. I only went here because they were the only ones who had availability in the time frame I needed, but it was NOT worth it. As others have said, their billing department is uniquely incompetent - even my insurance company was shocked that they didn't understand how VSP, a very common nation-wide eye care insurance system, worked. I've been going back and forth with them for almost two months. Also when I got my eye exam, they heavily dilated my eyes *without telling me* - then proceeded to give me an eye exam while my eyes were dilated, so the prescription they ended up giving me is worthless. After reading others' similar experiences here I'm shocked this place is still in business.
I gave one star because I technically have to give a star. I had an older family member go in for an eye test and to get new glasses. The person who did the eye test was nice and personable. The other employees including the doctor were rude, disrespectful, and not helpful at all! She was not comfortable there and will not return.
I am incredibly grateful for the staff at Eye Clinic of Fairbanks! I had some insurance things come up and they went above and beyond to help me with it. The error was not on their side but Tammy called my insurance provider to clarify the issue, resolved it, and called me back. She saved me hours of phone tag and I am so appreciative. I have experienced a similar high level of customer care from Noelle there and have no complaints about their business. I have been going here for two years and they have always been quick to get me into my appointments, and been kind and professional.
