Generally had not great experiences over the years. Terrible at returning phone calls or being helpful. The one good optometrist there left. Seems like often they go out of their way to be unhelpful. They regularly give out wrong prescriptions, make it hard to pick up your glasses, scam people on insurance or returns that they screwed up. They clearly don't pay staff enough to maintain decent levels of staffing, competency or care. I've heard really good things about Yukon from my partner and suggest folks avoid west valley vision and maybe mention to your insurance also that they're not very thorough.

Y'all, Dr. Ellis is truly a gem. She is so kind, sweet & phenomenal in her natural gift. She makes you feel comfortable, explains everything so well and has a gentle approach. I highly recommend her for your eye care needs.

When I went for an eye exam in 2024, I bought a very expensive set of glasses (even with my insurance) based on the prescription from that exam. It took well over a month to receive the glasses--which is understandable, given that we all live in Fairbanks--but the prescription was wrong. I knew immediately when I put them on that something wasn't right.
When I returned to tell them I couldn't see properly with the new lenses, they adjusted the frames but refused to let me have another eye exam. I went in three times to address the issue, but they kept insisting, "You just need to get used to the new prescription." I told them, "That's not how vision works. I'm not supposed to adjust to the prescription--the prescription is supposed to be adjusted to my vision."
Fast forward to this year: I had my eye exam at Yukon Eye Care Professionals--and what a difference! The doctor at Yukon Eye immediately recognized that the prescription from the West Valley glasses was the wrong strength.
You're better off going to a reliable eye care center than risking your vision with glasses that aren't correct for you!

I cannot say enough good things about my experience here, they truly went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in the best hands. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. They took the time to listen to my concerns, explain everything clearly, and make sure I felt comfortable every step of the way.
What really stood out, though, was the genuine care and compassion I received. The follow up appointments to make sure I was happy with my contacts and to make sure they fit correctly was outstanding. You can tell this team doesn't just treat patients -- they take care of people. I'm so grateful to have found this clinic and can honestly say I've never had a better experience with eye care. Highly, highly recommend!

While the exam and everything went smoothly, the doctor who did my eye test kept asking if I was going to have kids and why wouldn't I want kids, even told me I'll "change my mind"... incredibly personal and incredibly inappropriate and uncomfortable.

Outstanding! My family has been going to West Valley Vision for many years and every time, we're super happy. The doctors are awesome, support staff knowledgeable and caring, and they have a good selection of glasses and sunglasses. They don't always have the exact color or frame, but are easy to work with to special order what we want. They have always been really helpful when figuring out how much insurance would cover when we pick frames and lenses. They're top notch.

Slow. Asked before I even had my appointment what my copay would be because if it was more that I could afford I didn't want to proceed with the appointment. Was quoted a certain amount. They knew what my appointment was for prior. At checkout they said it was for way more than quoted. They should have told me when I asked. Horrible customer service. If you don't know the answer to something find someone that does. I would have rather gone to a place that gave me my prescription instead of having me come back for a second appointment. Worst eye appointment in 20 years
