It is not often that I can say that I enjoyed my eye appointment but Dr Falconer was so thorough and interesting as he explained my eye condition so well and was helpful in his recommendations. The staff were fun as we picked out my eye glasses together, they were great!
All was well, but there is 2 things... first though, I think they expanded or did renovations, so it looks good. Everything was fine, friendly staff, doctor, . there is a photothing they do that is not covered by various insurances. So when the doctor told me he was going to do that, I said ok, but I didn't know or it didn't register that he was talking about the same thing that they have a little display explaining the charge . So partly my fault, however, they should have made sure I understood that my insurance did NOT cover it and if I wanted to continue.
When checking out, that was when I was told the charge. And uhm... awkward. That particular check out person, I noticed her when I came in and have seen before. I. Sorry, she is not a friendly or approachable looking person and the interaction she had with the gal helping me get glasses made me feel like having to impose on her workload and just the eat she spike to me was condescending and at that point, everything else she said was blah blah blah.. and I never had a chance to tell her I have a hearing disability and I wouldn't want to impose. It takes alot for me to feel "off put" by someone. Anyways, everything else was fine. The optometrist made sure I understood everything, as I do ha e some issues with my eyes, And the cheery gal who helped me pick my glasses was nice.
Extremely Disappointing Remodel and Service
I've been coming here for nearly 20 years, but this most recent experience was the last straw.
The remodel itself is frustrating-- the waiting area has been shrunk down to an uncomfortable space, and the overall flow feels chaotic. The front desk staff only made it worse. Two very condescending receptionists not only talked over me but also over their coworkers. They openly bad-mouthed the staff in the back, complete with eye rolls, right in front of patients. It felt unprofessional and dismissive.
On top of that, I was charged a $39 fee that my insurance does not cover. When I asked what it was for, I was simply told, "Oh, it's new and everyone has to pay it." That's not an explanation. I was handed papers to sign, confused by the whole process, and ended up paying just to avoid standing there any longer.
Once in the back, I was put through tests while other patients were in the room doing the same thing--hearing each other's instructions like "click when you see the dots" or "wait for the puff." It was intrusive and uncomfortable. The doctors are still excellent, but even their exam rooms have been downsized.
Afterward, I was shuffled to a very crowded glasses area. There are three stations, but at the time only two people were working. The woman helping me was more focused on pushing a 50% discount instead of acknowledging my second insurance, all while micromanaging and criticizing her coworkers in front of me. She continuously talked over me, which made the entire process unpleasant.
When I asked about using my VA benefits, I was told flatly that they "couldn't call" because it was 9/11 and the office was closed. They wouldn't even attempt to work with me. In the end, I was charged nearly $500 for two pairs of glasses--despite having double coverage and VA authorization.
What kept me coming back over the years were the original staff--Teresa, Brandy, and Dr. Ford. They are the only reason I stayed through all the changes. But this level of gaslighting, unprofessionalism, and lack of respect was too much. Staff openly gossip about coworkers and patients in front of others, and I can only imagine what they say when we walk away.
This was once a great place, but the new environment is toxic, disorganized, and disrespectful. After two decades, my family and I are done here. I'll be sharing this experience so others can make informed choices and hopefully find better care elsewhere.
BTW this was my 3rd visit, 1- I came in on an allergic reaction with swollen eyes. I was given a same day to come in, but when I arrived they one receptionist asked the other how did I even get an an appointment that day. WOW!
2- Follow up per Dr and to get Exam and Glasses
3- To pick up glasses only to have them wrong( most likely do to all of the micromanaging of all the others around her)
Sadly I'm going to have to return for my replacement glasses.
As a 100% disabled vet they took care of me with kindness and attentiveness my wife had not come with me and I had asked one of the female employees to help me pick out my frames for my new glasses and she helped and was kind about it fantastic service
I recommend this shop for eyeglasses. My walk-in visit shopping for eyeglasses was worth it. I was not satisfied with the frame selection at my optometrist's office, so I stopped in here.
I was happy with the selection of frames and their pricing. The service here was top-notch. I look forward to receiving my new specs.
Our experience was great, worked well with my foster kid. They were polite and answered all questions, will definitely be back.
The eye exam and purchase of a pair of glasses went fast, smooth and professional.
I was a walk in and was seen in a very short period of time. My doctor was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. He made it very easy to be his patient
Customer Service at the front desk is Horrible! They are rude and appear to HATE their job. Get rid of them. Review after review has the same complaint. The Dr and techs are wonderful though. My family won't be coming back because of the front desk employees!
