I showed up to my 1:15 appointment at 1:05 and after I checked in I waited until around 1:22 for the desk girl to call me up to get my insurance information. I had trouble pulling it up and the woman showed no patients what so ever. She continued to rush me and threatened to cancel my appointment if I don't pull it up fast enough to her liking. She continued to say "we are past our 10 minute grace period" so she cancelled my appointment!!! And 15 seconds later I was able to get it out and she refused to look at it or take it. If you only give a 10 minute grace period don't you think people need more than 3 minutes to get their information out?? It's just ridiculous! After reading the rest of the reviews and people waiting an hour to an hour and a half makes the situation even more stupid. And while I was attempting to gather all that they made an elderly lady wait there 30 minutes unit they told her she's past her appointment time because she couldn't hear her name being called. You would think they would give more grace considering elderly people are most of their clientele. JUST DO BETTER!
The worst!! I felt like I was in a meat market. I arrived at 1:35 for a 1:50 appt. I didn't leave until 3:50 almost 4 pm. The girls at the front desk are not helpful to the elderly. They have a kiosk which is nice but not all senior patients are computer savy. I witnessed a few patients that arrived without referrals and were sent away vs. assisting them to call the referring doctor to obtain the referral. My eyes were dialated, but I was not informed prior to my appointment. What if I'd driven myself to the appointment. I wasn't offer protective Eyewear after dialation. My mom is a patient at this office. I thought the wait time was an exception as I waited with her 2 plus hours. I guess it's not. I also witnessed the same treatment during her visit towards seniors.
This office is processing a significant volume of patients every day. My experience can be summed up as 'hurry up and wait'. I arrived and checked in at 8:00, and after completing a short questionnaire, I was told to 'have a seat in the waiting area' - and I remained there until 8:25. Then, I had one test lasting about 5 minutes. A return to the waiting area for an additional 20 minutes. Then, one more test, lasting about 5 minutes and a return to the waiting area for an additional 15 minutes. After that, I was placed in an office where I completed an interview about my medical history, and told to wait in place for the Doctor. this lasted 10 minutes. After 15 minutes waiting, the Doctor came in, and we discussed my 'test results', and the Doctor did some scanning work on my eyes to determine cataract status. This part of the appointment lasted 15 minutes. I was returned to the waiting area and waited about 10 minutes until I was called for discharge. Add it up and you have about 1.5 hours of wait time, and half an hour of appointment time. Total duration: 2 hours. I'm told by other patients that their experience was similar at this location and others. Sorry folks. My former independant eye clinic was able to get me in, documented and tested and evaluated in about an hour. Take a good book to read or use their guest WIFI to occupy your time at BDP.
I have my annual eye exams done with Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. I have been going there for years. I am a diabetic and they go to great lengths on monitoring my eyes through retinal imaging. They walk me through the images and fully explain the results. The doctors and staff are very polite and efficient and take great care of me. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a provider choose Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. I have no complaints.
The staff was, as usual, excellent. Very friendly & professional. I do take issue with the amount of my time that the visit takes. I arrived at 8am for a 815am appointment. I wasn't finished until 1030am. They have a sign that warns that the visit may take 2 hours or more, but instead of warning patients, they should address the situation! I still work and don't care to take almost half a day off to see the doctor for less than 10 minutes! I always request the earliest appointment in an effort to make the visit more timely, but that's getting harder to do. I'm making my appointments 6 months in advance and the best they could do for me was a 920am appointment. When I add 2 hours for the visit I'll have to take the entire day off work to see the doctor for only a few minutes. Again , the staff is excellent but the office needs to run more efficiently
I've been to their office and surgery center. Everyone at both places are wonderful, friendly, welcoming, thorough, very pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, it also seems like they have a great work environment.
My last visit it took 8 minutes to get checked in, which signed me in as late. There were 3 people one at each kiosk. The gal was out there trying to help each one. Maybe when there's a line and hold up like that someone from behind the desk can grab a few people face to face.
My appt was 9:45, I wasn't seen till 10:50. Which caused me to reschedule 2 other appointments.
So give yourself plenty of time when you go.
My last Ophthalmology office was quick and efficient for glaucoma and cataracts. This office took 1.5 hours to get me to the Doctor (who I thought was to be an ophthalmologist but was an optometrist). The techs did all the testing and not the doctor. 5 minutes after sitting with the doc - I was done. She couldn't really respond to my cataract questions. Not what I was looking for. Everyone was nice.
Dr DuWong is always amazing taking great care of me! The total Staff was cheerfully supportive particularly an Intern Quintin! He was so thorough throughout my entire examination! He took the time to explain to me about my eye progression as I get older! I want to thank you all for my experience! Sincerely RLA
