UAMS Health - Eye Clinic

The worst clinic of doctors! MIs diagnose and when you arrive they don't even know why you're there! Then they lose all your medical records that you have been holding onto for one year after having an eye procedure done once a month for 14 months I arrive there and they didn't even know who I was while I was there. They had lost my records and put me through complete drama and stress. I had to rent a hotel room just to go to the appointment because I live four hours away. This is less than a one star review. I have dealt with UAMS in the past and they are the worst do not go here if you were concerned about your vision or any other medical problem I put in a complaint. They told me that I would get a callback and they would locate my medical records. It has been over five months, still have not heard from them never have received my medical records of pictures that I took in to the Eye Center For them to review. They took them when they were giving me the appointment and they have lost them still have not recovered them never have received a call back.

I made the mistake of going to the UAMS Jones Eye Clinic for an annual exam. The exam room was dark and freezing cold. A fan never stopped blowing. Everyone who came in was wearing a coat. I sat there for almost two hours in shorts and a short sleeved shirt while people came and went. I was miserable. Now, five months later, to add insult to injury, I received a bill for treatment not covered by Medicare or my BCBS policy. The UAMS eye glasses prescription was so different from my last prescription that I went to a second optometrist, and had glasses made from his readings. His services were covered by my insurance The UAMS optometrist is no longer there. I would not recommend the Jones Eye Clinic.

Dr. Chaow was very polite but I don't feel like most of my issues with my eyes/migraines were addressed. I'm supposed to come back in 6 months after the only recommendation was getting new glasses. But I don't think I will after the experience I had at this clinic. Making an appointment here took awhile to get in and it took months out before I was seen. Which is understandable they are a specialist for neurology. The biggest issue from this appointment and why I won't be back was how rude and uncaring one of the assistants was to me. I was here due to eye issues/migraines I have been having since April. I explained to her before the tests that I'm having eye issues and that I'm mostly blind in my right eye. Everything seemed ok until she got angry with me for not being able to do some of the tests and not being quick with them. She made me feel like because I can't see well I was an issue/annoying. I had to state to her multiple times I'm mostly blind in my right eye. So all the tests regarding that eye is hard to do. At one of the test she full on huffed at me, mad that I was struggling at doing that test. She wasn't patient with me at all. It was shocking how upset she was getting with me. I was trying my best but since I have issues with my eyes she wasn't listening at all to what I was saying and got mad at me more then once. If I wasn't having issues with my eyes/migraines to begin with I wouldn't of had to come here. I used to have great vision in my left eye but since April I been having issues. I was upfront with everything I been having issues with in the beginning of my appointment. After the tests she then dilated my eyes and asked what meds I was on. I was already struggling with how she was upset with me that I was having trouble talking to her. She then rapidly tapped on the computer screen angrily asking if I can see the screen can I tell her what meds in my chart is correct and what I'm not on anymore. I already stated before hand that I can't see text well if it's on a white background as it is blurry/streaky and causes me to have a migraine. (Hence why I was there and I can't see the Eye chart very well.) Plus my eyes were dilated and it was a bright screen. I was trying to look at it but I couldn't see anything on the screen it was just a big blur. Luckily my husband was with me at this appointment and was able to step in to look at my chart to correct what meds I was on. He was upset with her for how she was treating me this appointment. I never been to an appointment with a doctor and didn't have to to fill out paperwork before hand. But I didn't end up filling out any paperwork here. If I did that I think there would of been less confusion on why I was there and less wires being crossed with medical issues I have been having/have. The only reason I'm even giving two stars is that the one lady at the front desk was very polite and the Dr. Chaow and his student who was also in at my appointment were very nice.

Dr. Chaow Charoenkiijkajorn is a joke, spent less than 10 minutes with my husband, would not listen to him, kept interrupting him and then dismissed his reasons for being there. This is the worst doctor we have ever seen bar none. Drove 2 1/2 hours for this appointment. We complained and have an appointment in 3 months with the department head, in the mean time we are still dealing with double vision and terrible headaches all day every day. If they schedule you with him, you are wasting your time.

My terminally ill brother had an appointment today for a critical situation, detatched retina. He has been there over 3 hours from his appointment time after Ubering an hour to get there. In what world do you make a terminally ill human that has just Ubered from Hot Springs with a critical situation wait over 3 hours and say there are still 4 in front of you and you close at 4:30 ??? Is there an issue with the person scheduling appointments? Doesn't sound like appointments are being made with respect to the patient at all. We will be reporting this ridiculous issue to our insurance company, referring Doctor, etc. Absolutely ridiculous service! Learn how to schedule and be considerate of patients time especially when they are terminally ill. Terrible service

This clinic staff is really horrible. The cornea specialist we saw was okay but we had to ask what the diagnosis was before he left because he didn't explain what he found. The staff was extremely rude, said my daughter's full name out loud (can you say HIPAA violation?), gave my daughter a sticky note with her next appointment but failed to log the appointment into their system. Now, she has arrived for her follow-up and has no appointment scheduled. They worked her into the schedule but there was no apology for their mistake. I am not impressed with this place.
