Dr. Andrew Soss is good! My new glasses and contact lens with the new prescription see things better than my old ones. That matters most, although the eye exam went through very quick. And all staff were friendly and helpful.
"There is the best and all the rest." Andrew C. Soss, OD, FAAO has saved my vision. Wow, yes! I went yesterday and was, as usual greeted by his friendly office staff, including Eileen. After a patient and thorough exam with drops, he informed me that I had cataracts and macular degeneration. Instead of being depressed, I was relieved. I had been having progressively worsening vision issues for several months. At Kaiser, I saw three optometrists (OD), and an ophthalmologist (M.D.) who told me my vision was fine, except it wasn't. The optometrist gave me a new prescription and my new glasses which were mailed out the next week, even though my eye prescription hadn't changed in 4 years. Next week, I had another appointment with yet another Kaiser optometrist which I cancelled.
Dr. Soss is going to help me schedule my cataract surgery with an excellent local surgeon and start preventative measures to slow the progression of my macular degeneration which is incurable at this time.
This is not to bash Kaiser as I had an excellent spinal surgeon, Dr. Josef Ernst Gorek, at the Kaiser Spine Center, who got rid of 100% of my back pain.
Dr. Soss, if I could give you 10 stars I would.
I was a new patient at Broadway Eye Center. The front desk was able to make me an appointment a week after calling. I thought the building was very well kept and clean. I didn't like the vibe when I first walked in, it was quiet and unwelcoming. The front desk staff didn't seem happy to be there which made me feel uncomfortable. My exam went pretty quick and the Dr. Was nice and professional. My perception for contacts did not change and I ordered the same brand I typically get. When my order was ready for pick up the office wanted to schedule a follow up appointment to see how the contacts fit. I explained I did not want to do this appointment because I had the same prescription and same brand so I knew they would be fine. The front desk staffed argued with me and refused to let me pick up my prescription even after they were already paid for. I understand having a follow up if you're new to contacts or your prescription has changed but I think this extra appointment should be optional. Needless to say I won't be returning.
I had been coming to Dr. Soss for 16 years. Dr. Soss is a skilled professional. However, his office staff is the face of his practice and because of this, he has lost 3 patients today.
Each visit I would brush off the rude customer service from Eileen (who has been there since I've been going to him). It's kind of odd that he has so many negative reviews about her, yet he still keeps her around.
I went in for my eye exam about 2 weeks ago, and paid extra for my contact lens exam. When he wrote out my contact lens prescription, he recommended a brand that did not carry my written base curve size. Of course, I didn't find out until I tried to purchase them online. When I called the front office, Eileen argued with me. I simply asked her to verify with the Doctor if he mistakenly wrote down the wrong brand or the wrong Base curve measurement. I was out of contacts and my prescription had changed so I needed them asap. After several phone calls, she finally screamed at me to purchase the brand Dr. Soss wrote down (in the wrong base curve size) and she would approve it in the office end. I received my contacts last week and of course, they do not sit well in my eyes and cause blurriness. I called the office back and got Eileen. I told her my issue with the contact lens and she, of course, blamed it on me again stating "Well, the Doctor wrote your base curve size on the prescription". I reminded her that he also wrote down the wrong brand that didn't carry my size, but she had told me to purchase them anyways! I asked for a call back from Dr. Soss (who never calls you back personally) and his office staff called me back to schedule a contact lens check up to see how the contacts fit my eyes. They said they would charge me $40 for the visit if they find that it was my fault in anyway that my contacts didn't fit my eyes. UNBELIEVABLE!! I called this morning to cancel my appointment and told Eileen to remove myself as well as my fiance and son, as patients, with Dr. Soss. Eileen happily exclaimed "OK, BYE!" and hung up on me.
After being an established patient for 16 years and bringing in my fiance, and son as patients to their practice, this is how they treat me.
You are literally better off at any other Optometrist's office. They will treat you with more respect than his office staff does.
I have to say, I was very impressed with not only Dr. Soss but his office too. My insurance changed and I was forced to find a new eye doctor, and boy did a find an excellent eye doctor. He was very thorough and very friendly. He explained everything to me so I could understand. I highly recommend his office if you are looking a friendly, professional and just an all around nice office and a nice eye doctor And they are open on the weekends, which was a plus for me. And they are in my neighborhood which was a plus also. Thank you Dr. Andrew Soss and the office personnel.
One of the most proficient eye care professionals available today. Comprehensive and complete eye exams insure that your eyes are healthy. Friendly staff and in the ten plus years I have been going for an exam; they still remember me. Dr. Soss is a easy guy to talk to... with impressive credentials.
This is the best eye care available at an affordable price.
Dr. Andrew and his staff are easy going and kind. He is very quick in examination. I bought some glasses with Warby Parker online and sent a prescription request to Dr. Andrew and he was very quick to approve of it.
Dr. Soss is very knowledgeable and easy going. He was also very fair from a pricing standpoint. I recommend using his practice for your optometry needs.
