Visionary Retina Center: Pamela Golchet, MD

It is hard to put into words how highly I recommend Dr. Golchet. I taught Anatomy and Physiology at the University level for 45 years and was also the pre-health, pre-med advisor for the last 20 years. I feel competent to pass judgement on Dr. Golchet as my retinal specialist. She is not affiliated with any larger clinical/hospital system which is what I wanted. Her office is conveniently located in Calabasas and parking is easy and free. Dr. Golchet is knowledgeable, detail oriented, careful, kind, empathetic, and someone you will enjoy having as your physician. Getting shots every month for wet macular degeneration (MD) is made as pleasant as possible by her. In addition her assistant Svetlana, and those at the intake desk are excellent. Procedures are done in an efficient but not hurried manner. I have been seeing her now for four months. Recently, I was surprised and happy to be able to reach her at 10 pm on a Friday night to discuss an eye problem. She answered my call, solved my problem quickly and called in a prescription for me to pick up that night. She helped me SO much at that moment to get through a painful experience. In summary, she cares about you and will do everything possible to help you when you need it. I was diagnosed with MD while spending time in Northern California. When I returned home, I needed to find a retinal specialist quickly and found Dr. Golchet who is close to my home. I decided to see her and was so pleasantly surprised it prompted me to write this review. This is the first time in my 80 years I have done so online! L.N.

I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Pamela Golchet. Her professionalism and compassion shine through, and the entire experience--from the front office to the exam room--is seamless and reassuring. If you're looking for an ophthalmologist who is not only highly knowledgeable but also deeply committed to her patients' well-being, I recommend Dr. Golchet; she is outstanding!

Dr. Golchet is a breath of fresh air in the Opthalmology world. She is thorough and really takes the time to understand your medical history and treats you accordingly. I strongly recommend this wonderful doctor who is also kind and thoughtful. And her staff couldn't get any nicer.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Pamela Golchet's office. I called ahead explaining that I needed to be seen urgently for a possible retinal issue, and they told me to come in for an emergency visit. After arriving, I waited over an hour and a half, only to be told they would not see me. Even worse, the office was in-network with my insurance, yet they were unable to verify it. Instead of making any real effort to resolve the issue, they pressured me to sign a waiver agreeing to pay out of pocket and bypass my insurance coverage. I refused -- and that's when they declined to see me, despite the urgency of my symptoms. For a retinal concern, this kind of disorganization, lack of transparency, and pressure to waive insurance is completely unacceptable. I left without being evaluated and had to seek care elsewhere. This office made me feel that money and billing came before patient care. I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience.

Dr. Golchet is an excellent Opthamologist. She is very thorough in her eye exam. I personally went to her for a routine eye exam. Completely unknown to me she discovered a potential eye problem. She was able to start a treatment plan that did correct the issue before it became a major issue. Her office staff is professional and caring. Her office is new and welcoming.
