Vision Gallery Optometric Center

Update to my last review....nothing has changed. Dr. Wong and staff still rock!! We've been a Vision Gallery family for almost 20 years and couldn't be more pleased with the friendly staff and superior service we have enjoyed there year after year. From Dr. Nelson to Dr. Wong it's been a great experience.

Unfortunately, I had a serious problem with the prescription from this office. As it tuned out, I was prescribed progressive lenses instead of single vision ones. I empathized multiple times during the visit I had no complaints about close up and intermediate vision. I almost got into a severe car accident as a result because of insane peripheral blurriness. The ophthalmologist gave me zero heads up about this technology. I also wasted 3k on glasses on top of that which are absolutely useless now because I cannot see anything close and I cannot drive in them. After 1 month trying to adjust and leaving in hell Lenses should be replaced. This practice either negligent or unprofessional, probably both.

They were able to see me on short notice. (I did call before to check) The receptionist Star was very welcoming. Dr. Young was thorough with my dad and I and explained to us everything she would be doing and answered all our questions. The staff was efficient and I felt taken care of not only bc of the outstanding optometric care, but also bc the employees kept all areas clean, sanitized, and controlled foot traffic in the office. Thank you specifically to Mariana for helping me choose the best frames for me. All the ladies in this office are kind, welcoming, and helpful. Not your average health visit. Highly recommend

I've been a patient at the Vision Art Gallery with Dr.Wong for years now. Dr. Wong and his staff are AMAZING! They are personal, knowledgeable, and professional. Dr. Wong ensures that his patients understand their unique eye health during each appointment. He takes the initiative to get to know his patients, and quite frankly, that is a RARE personality trait in the healthcare industry. I trust Dr. Wong and his team when it comes to my eye health, and you should too.

The office did a great job with covid precautions. Everyone wearing masks and sanitized things constantly. Since clients are by appt only spacing between people was great. Pre appt was good, she explained each of the exams/procedures and sanitized stuff. The doctor answered all my questions and took his time. He is funny and gave me a talking to for not wearing sunglasses, he even showed me details in my eyes as the reason for wearing them. He used tape to secure my face mask during the exam. He seems to really care. The person that helped me afterwards, she wears cat eye glasses, I cant remember her name and is not listed on their website. She was welcoming and so patient with me wanting to try all glasses on and afterwards put them aside for disinfecting.

Super friendly and professional. I was ready to be seen on time with my appointment. I did not have to wait. Everything was sterilized before I made contact with any machine. They took the time to talk with my about issues related specific to my eye health and provided recommendations and tips.

I called an eye center in Berkeley and they told me I was going to have to wait a MONTH to get an eye exam and an appointment to get new glasses. Here I called and got an appointment the next day :)). Fantastic COVID precautions, all of the ladies here are super nice and accommodating. Dr. Wong knows his stuff and is very friendly. I will drive the extra distance to come to Castro Valley to get the kind of service they provide here!

I have been going to Vision Gallery for the past two years. Every time I have gone I have had nothing but a positive experience. The staff and Dr. John Wong are always friendly, engaging and caring. The exams are thorough and the opportunity to ask questions or to have them answered is always ample. I would highly recommend making an appointment with Vision Gallery if you are looking for a new place to take care of your eyes.
