Dr. John E. Stabel, MD

Poor communication on multiple occasions. Treated my 70 yr old mother like an inconvenience. Wrote wrong times for appointments down twice. Did not inform patient they would need a driver on one occasion. I deffinately do not recommend this Dr. There was a lot of time wasted and un needed anxiety waiting over 2.5 hrs for surgery due to wrong time.

Unprofessional and rough are the two words I would describe my visit. The staff took little time to explain what they would be doing. It felt like no one enjoyed their jobs and that trickled down to the Patient experience. I went in to have the skin on my eye lid looked at and they were pushing me to have a Eye Pressure test. When asked "Why this test was needed" the staff said it was standard procedure. I suspect it was more for billing as the referring Dr. I came from a couple weeks prior preformed the Pressure test and sent the results over to Stabels office. Why would you need the same test twice in such a short time? I was there for an eye lid skin issue. It seems there would be little need for an additional pressure test. A professional staff would have explained the reasoning for this however they just kept repeating "this is standard procedure". I believe Dr's should conduct business in a professional manor. Unfortunately this was not my experience. I'm glad we as patients have a way to pass the word on to other people considering visiting this office. I wouldn't go back and can't recommend this office to others needing Eye Care.

Without question, the best eye surgeon in Chico, California, when it comes to eye care, from cataracts to all other eye care needs. I could not recommend Dr. Stable more highly for anyone in this discipline. Timothy J Vander Heiden JD

Today's weather is very hot. I received a call from them yesterday telling me that my husband has an appointment tomorrow at 2:45 pm. This afternoon my husband and I arrived here 10 minutes late. They asked us for some personal information and checked it on the computer, but told us that there was no appointment for us. We were all surprised! We repeatedly emphasized that we received a notification call so we came to this place today. But they just emphasized that no one called us. Well! I drove my husband home (my husband has Alzheimer's disease). After I sent my husband home, I found the pink note from yesterday. It had the time and place written on it. Then I went to them again under the scorching sun, but they still didn't admit it. Finally told me that it might be the same name as my husband. Ridiculous. Then how to explain the phone number? Please tell me! In the end, no one apologized to us! I am not good at English, but I am not stupid! Are you discriminating against us?

My husband had his cataract surgery here. I felt he was very well cared for, the level of professionalism was high. Staff were all happy and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Would highly recommend.

My 2 daughters worked here, when my mom died unexpectedly (she and my dad were also patients) and Dr. Stabel never shared his condolences and only gave 1 daughter paid time off for the funeral. He treats his staff poorly and the office is run by favoritism. He may be a decent doctor but his people skills are awful.

The office atmosphere is congenial and pleasant. Everyone does her job quickly, efficiently and with a smile. This is my 2nd cataract with Dr. Stabel, and I am very pleased with his professionalism and concern.
