Our first visit to Stanton Optical was disappointing from start to finish. We originally switched from another reputable company because our insurance was no longer accepted there. Although Stanton wasn't contracted with our vision insurance, the scheduler assured us they would honor in-network benefits, so we made an appointment. When we arrived, there was only one staff member (Ethan) juggling both scheduled appointments and walk-ins. After selecting our glasses, we waited as walk-ins were prioritized, and the overall customer service was poor. Upon reviewing our order forms at home, I realized both pairs of glasses were for reading, even though I had requested one for reading and one for driving. I made several calls to correct the order, but was repeatedly put on hold and told Ethan would call me back--which never happened. I ended up driving back to the office, only to find the Ethan with multiple customers, some of whom were also frustrated and requesting refunds for delayed orders. I tried to clarify my prescription needs, and was assured the correction had been made. Unfortunately, when I picked up my glasses, both were still for reading. To make matters worse, I was charged for a "Frame Club" I never asked for, which was explained as a way to apply discounts. When I asked for a rush on the corrected order, I was told it would still take two weeks, despite the mistake being on their end. Nearly a month after my original order, I'm still waiting for my glasses. As healthcare professionals, my husband and I value quality care and service--neither of which we found at Stanton. The office is understaffed, the customer service is lacking, and there was no attempt at service recovery. We do not recommend this company.

UPDATE: 1/21/2026 (Should've just gone to LensCrafters in the beginning) I went back in to have them replace the lens as the prescription was not right, and the doctor updated it. I dropped off my eyeglasses on 12/31/2025, and now it is 01/21/2026. I called to check if it's ready for pick up. They could not find my glasses at first and put me on hold for so long. Finally, they found it, but all they told me was that my glasses are not ready because they didn't even send them out! The guy on the phone said he could refund me how much I paid and pick up my glasses. Are you seriously telling me that, after this whole time I waited for almost a month, just like what they've put me through last year. I thought they just made that ONE mistake. No, now this is the second time. My conclusion about this place is that their staff really do not care. DO NOT try to make this mistake as I did, guys. STAY AWAY from this place. This place seriously needs to clean up its staff. UPDATED REVIEW: 12/11/2025: I received a call from their manager a few days after I posted the first review (see original review below) to resolve the eyeglasses issue, letting me know that the lab was still working on my eyeglasses and that they are located in Texas. I understand that location part and having no control over the lab's schedule, so I think that upper management or the CEO should be aware of their laboratory's mistakes and how long it would take to fix them. I know it is not the staff's fault here, so I am updating this review for them as I like getting my glasses at Stanton (my first experience with them was in Hanford, CA). My eyeglasses arrived yesterday, 12/10/2025, so it has been a long time since I ordered them on 11/6/2025. I received a call yesterday from one of their staff to let me know that my order is ready, and I asked for a discount because it took a while. The staff said the manager is the only person who can give the discount, so I went in today to pick up my eyeglasses and waited for the manager. The staff are still very nice and accommodating, when we know not all places are like that, especially most places do not understand customers' frustrations and reactions to staff's mistakes. We know that most places would just give you an attitude and dismiss your concerns/issues. I believe the manager's name is Gerard, whom I saw today, apologized, and was going to give me half of the amount that I paid back. Because they are accommodating with no behavioral concerns, I asked for the amount of their military or veteran discount instead (since I did not get the discount when I ordered). Gerard gave me 15% (their military or veteran discount) and processed the discount to be returned to my account. How they do their job and their customer service skills really matter to me, regardless of where I go, and this is why I gave them 1 star at first, now 4 stars with an updated review, and told them they did not have to give me half off because I understand business. Thank you for changing my mind about wanting to go back to Stanton again. The definition of a good business is having employees like them who deserve to have this job, especially in healthcare. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 12/3/2025 I brought my prescription and my own eyeglasses frame here a month ago. I had my prescription done at another optometry where they accept my insurance, since Stanton doesn't take my insurance. This store called me 2 weeks ago only to tell me that they received my glasses, but the lenses don't fit in the frame. The staff told me she has to send it back, and I have to wait another 2 weeks. I told her I will be going on vacation in December, so I need the glasses as soon as possible, and she said she will expedite my glasses. I just called them, and the customer service said I will be getting my glasses on December 12 I told him that's already more than a month, when it was not even my fault they got the lens size wrong and had to send it back He said there's nothing he could do. I'm not coming back here EVER again. This place does not do its job well.

On Nov 26, 2025, I ordered prescription lens from this Chula Vista office. On Dec 18, I got a text and an email that my order was ready for pick up, so I went there to pick pick but was told that they cannot find it their office. The girl told me to come back the next day and told me for sure , it will be available. I came the next day, none. Why would they text and email me if the order wasn't there. I went back the 3rd time to complain and possibly cancel and get a refund. But Ethan convinced me he'll just re-order with upgrade and no additional fees. So we did re-ordered . Today, Dec31, I received a text and email that my order is ready for pick up. So I called and the girl I talked to said she can't find it . Again. I was frustrated and mad. Something is wrong with this office. I asked her to call me back once they find it. If I don't get a call in the next 2 days, I will cancel my order. It has been 5 weeks now since I ordered. That is just unacceptable. I need my glasses .

BOGO IS FAKE. They will tell you "how much it is for both pairs" which they will calculate in their phone but not actually do it on their computer so you dont see the actual lower price which will never match a BOGO. I was tricked into getting 50% off ONE pair of glasses. I went in to get the BOGO. Thats all thats announced EVERYWHERE. Why would I pay for just one pair of glasses. I even said i want the lense warranty on both pairs. I was told the total was $456.93. Of course I paid and was told they would be ready in 2 weeks. I go to pick them up and they tell me I only ordered one pair and that "I" got the 50% pff one pair. Where from? Where did that come from? Where was it announced? Oh all this was done by the "manager" GERALD. ETHAN told me he was the manager See how the "company" replies with no real solution or benefit to the customer.
