I had an amazing experience at Golden Vision Optometry in Milpitas. The staff was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable.
They are way cheaper than any other optometry place I have been to in the Bay Area. Even though my insurance only covered the eye exam and part of the glasses, they helped me find great options and made the whole process easy and stress free. I was also able to get stylish Michael Kors sunglasses, which was a huge bonus.
No pressure, no upselling, just honest service and great value. I highly recommend Golden Vision Optometry to anyone looking for quality care at a reasonable price.
Doctors were excellent. However front desk seems scattered often. This is my first time going to this office for contacts. I've never waited more than a couple of days to get contacts and it's been two weeks and I still don't have my set of contacts. They have waited to order them until my testers came in (weeks after) then i presume it will be another couple of weeks for my order to come in. Friendly staff though.
This store is very kind. I bought several glasses from Golden Vision in Irvine. I have recently moved to Bay Area, and just visited this store today to ask if they can fix the bended frame. Jake quickly helped me. He is very professional and successfully rescue my frame. Thank you so much, Jake!
My family had an absolutely terrible experience at Gordon Optometry in Cupertino, and I urge other Bay Area parents to avoid this place. From the start, it felt like they were only interested in making money, not patient care.
Appointment Scheduling & Wait Times: Appointments are incredibly difficult to get, and even when you arrive on time, expect to wait at least 30 minutes, often more.
Aggressive Up-selling: During annual check-ups, they constantly push expensive out-of-pocket tests. A quick 10-second photo costs $100 for no clear reason.
Terrible Frame Quality & Deceptive Sales: We paid $800 for plastic frames that broke within a month when my child accidentally dropped them from a desk. When we called, they said a replacement would be another $800 and tried to blame us for not buying "protection" - which they never offered or mentioned when we purchased the glasses.
VSP Insurance Issues: Our VSP coverage, which was supposedly in-network, was incredibly sparse. Worse, they switched our coverage to "out-of-network" without informing us, only telling us we had to pay after the check-up, half a year later!
Ortho-K Solutions: When we purchased Ortho-K lenses, they pressured us into buying a year's supply of artificial tears and cleaning solutions, claiming we had to pick them up monthly. Often, they were out of stock for up to three months! Eventually, they gave us brands readily available at Costco (which we then found were significantly more expensive through them than at Costco or Amazon).
REFUSAL TO TRANSFER ORTHO-K DATA (Most Egregious!): This is the most infuriating point. After all the above issues, we finally switched to another ophthalmologist. Gordon Optometry refused to provide our Ortho-K lens data, despite us having spent over $5,000 with them. They claimed it was "custom-made" and wouldn't release the information. As soon as they knew we were leaving, their attitude completely changed. It's unethical to withhold a patient's own lens information, especially after such a substantial investment.
Parents in the Bay Area, please save yourselves the headache and money. Do not go to this unscrupulous business.
Yesterday I had an appointment with Dr. Ong. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She listened carefully to all my questions and concerns and examined them in detail. The optician team was also very helpful in helping me choose my eyeglass frames, and they even stayed after 6 PM to help me complete the process.
The process of getting new glasses here was very smooth and everyone is very kind and helpful. Dr. Ong has a great demeanor and communicated well through the whole exam process, and Grace helped me pick out a great pair of glasses. Highly recommend.
I just had my annual check and ordered a pair of new glasses. Dr. Shih is very professional, checked my eye conditions, making sure they are healthy and helping me with a suitable prescription to avoid eye strain and headache. Kim is very helpful with my insurance coverage and offered me with affordable and good quality glasses and lenses.
I just received a message from this optical store reminding me to come back for a regular eye check-up.
It brought back memories of last October when I had my eyes checked and ordered lenses here. I have 150 astigmatism, which makes my night vision very poor, but the doctor here insisted that I shouldn't correct it fully. Because of that, I had to replace my lenses this year.
I went to another clinic in Los Angeles, Gold Vision, and after getting my new glasses, it felt like I was reborn. It turns out the doctor here was very unprofessional, which caused me to drive with blurry vision at night for an entire year and left my eyes even more fatigued.
I strongly advise everyone not to choose this place for eye exams or glasses. It will only make your vision worse.
