Beware! There is a problem on the optician side of this business. I have had good experiences with Drs. Kirk and McCafferty and will return to see them, but, like others, the optician side proved to be a scam in my opinion.
I had glasses made from Dr. McCafferty's prescription, at the optician portion of the business. At the time the frames were selected. the optician, Kathleen, told me that I could return them within three months if they were not right for me, and that she wanted me to be "completely satisfied" with my glasses. Her statements turned out to be false in my opinion.
When the glasses came in, the prescription was wrong for me and the larger lens of the new frames were wrong for me. I was seeing double in these glasses. Dr. MaCafferty then re-examined my eyes without charge and told me that I needed to exchange the frames for smaller ones and wrote a new prescription. However, Kathleen, the optician, said that "complete satisfaction" was limited to exchanging the lenses even though the doctor said the frame was wrong for me, too.
Kathleen, in my experience, is more interested in arguing than in living up to her promises and providing customer service. Dealing with her was highly unpleasant when she found out that the glasses did not work for me.
I agree with others who have written about this business: the doctors are top notch but when they invite you into the optician's lair, just say no. This business provides expensive glasses that do not work for the customer and the optician, in my experience induced me to buy glasses by making a false promise of "complete satisfaction." Think about it: what would it cost Ms. Kathleen to exchange an unsuitable pair of frames for frames that the customer actually needed and could use. Buying glasses here was a mistake. I had a far better experience with the opticians at Integrity Eye. I do not recommend the optician portion of this business.
Everyone at this place is amazing. Absolutely hospitable and very transparent doctor, staff and optician. This place was recommended to me on Nextdoor. The optician, Cathleen, here is very sincere, honest and helpful. She has helped me a ton with glasses and contact lenses. She is a great teacher and provides appropriate guidance.
I had my eye refraction done a couple of weeks ago from Dr MaCaffrey. The appointment was to tune up a prescription I had refracted at my doctor at Stein Eye Institute I had just 2 weeks prior so I could order my glasses. The refraction Dr MaCaafrey came up with was 20/200. No way! I know what 20/200 looks like. I've had eye issues my whole life. After making my complaint about the refraction, I was told that Dr Kirk would review the issue. I just got a call from a Kathleen who told me I either come in and get the refraction they prescribed for glasses or not. Question-why would I purchase glasses to see 20/200 when I see 20/70 with a prescription from my primary doctor. When I posed that question to Kathleen, and asked for a refund, she sternly said, "we performed the examination and you should try the prescription". You've got to be kidding me! Bottom line, DO NOT go there to get your eyes refracted.
This is about the eyeglass boutique. I have my eyes examined there, usually it's fine, sometimes the wait in the exam room is very long but the doctors are very kind.. I decided to purchase lenses at the boutique, they were very expensive. I was told the lenses came with a warranty. I would be able to get new lenses replaced twice should I get a scratch on them. I thought that was a good deal because I can be clumsy. For me that was the deciding factor to do business with the boutique. At no time was I informed of any exclusions such as if it was caused by your dog for instance. So I had no issue to come in to ask for new lenses after my dog got a hold of them. I was obviously very surprised that this was indeed an exclusion. I was in a bit taken back by this and agreed to pay for the one lens (that showed dog evidence). It cost me $282. Not a small amount. In fact, I could probably get a set of frames and lenses at Costco for that. I should not have agreed to pay for it, but I was a bit between a rock and a hard place. I needed glasses! I brought it up with the boutique attendant. To no avail. It does not help me at all when your clerk says, too bad, but that is the policy of the lab. I say too bad that you do not inform your customers fully. Suffice it to say, I will never purchase lenses from them again. It is just not a transparent way of doing business, and a bit rude, customer is certainly not right in this case. I do not believe my grievance is altogether unjustified. What about A parrot, a cat? What if my child throws my glasses in the blender? I wrote them a letter, but no reply. They don't care I guess. To make this even worse, they cracked my DKNY frame! Hid it cleverly somehow and the prescription is not 100%. Actually I had already send them back as they came back wrong the first time. I just can't go back there now after my complaint letter goes unanswered and the clerk at the boutique was already rude, who needs that? I hesitate always to write bad reviews but this is ridiculous!

Ophthalmologist, Dr. Plotner and Optometrist, Dr. Smith are incredibly generous and competent as are the rest of the staff here.
Bonnie got me an appointment to see Dr. Smith the same day I called. I explained that I thought I might have something embedded in my eye as the discomfort I was experiencing had not yielded since the day I went hiking.
Dr. Smith did a full examination of my eyes and found that I did indeed have plant material embedded inside my upper eyelid. He attempted to remove the foreign body but relented after several goes to carefully remove it. He then advised the wonderful ladies upfront to call Dr. Plotner at home to see if he'd be willing to come back into the office to take care of my problem.
I would have happily come back when Dr. Plotner was in the office but Dr. Smith thought it was important that we finish the job that day. Thankfully, Dr. Plotner is a kind and generous man. He drove back to the office and in his skilled hands, within minutes of his arrival, my eye was completely plant material free!
Thank you Dr. Plotner, Dr. Smith, Bonnie, Kathy and Obie! You made my day!
