This is quite the unprofessional establishment. I have on multiple occasions, attempted to reach out to the optometrist office for various different reasons over the time that we've been with them and they are not likely to return calls in a timely fashion or even be ready at the front desk when you go in for your appointments. Before they confirm an appointment on the phone, they should also mention that there is an additional $50 out-of-pocket expense not covered by insurance because of new machinery they have. I continued to go with them until we had an issue with our insurance and I had to see a different optometrist. My daughter was still having issues with her vision after getting what we thought her long distance vision corrected due to the optometrist at Tovey stating that she had a stigmatism, however he did not seem to notice there was an up close issue with the vision as well. Taking my child to a different optometrist, I was able to confirm that she not only did not have a stigmatism, but it was a positioning of one of her eyes. And they did not seem to notice there was an up close issue with the vision as well. It is in my opinion that Tovey optometry company is lazy, only willing to do the minimum and have close to no customer service skills. Having alternatives is what is saving my daughter's vision and her ability to participate in school. My response to you, Mr. Tovey Is that I left several messages in November 2025 and in December 2025 regarding a callback regarding my daughter's vision. We are not optometrist so we had no idea her exam at your office was incomplete until we had her eyes checked elsewhere . No one from your office called me back. The additional cost I paid when I came into your office to have the examination with your new Opto machine was $50. You can go back and check your intake amount on those dates that i was seen. That experience that I described is the experience that we had so you may have been in business for all these years and may have been very wonderful to every single one of them however our experience was one in my opinion quite lacking. Even when I suggested to you that the frames that I received were too loose there was no assistance offered by you to adjust or replace the frame. Again, another optometrist office took my glasses with the frames that were too loose and were able to tighten them up, free of charge. Perhaps we weren't worth your best treatment. No worries. This family will not return and will never recommend. But then you don't need us anyway.

Man...Dr. Tovey. This man is a real and true doctor. He cares about his patients in the way no other doctor (in my experience) does. I had an extreme eye emergency and I burst into his office unannounced and in dire condition. Dr. Tovey saw me immediately with no questions asked. He began treating my eye on the spot and saw it through to the end, taking me in multiple times a day for close to a week until my eye had fully healed. God bless this man

Dr. Tovey is kind, patient, and thorough. His assistant was very kind and thorough as well. This morning, I had a 10:30 AM appointment and I was out of there by 11 AM. He explained everything he was doing, he chitchatted a little bit, he didn't pressure me to buy anything, and sent me on my way. I will be returning next year.

I come to get my glasses and contacts with Dr. Tovey. I dared to visit Stanton Optical once and regrete it 100 percent. Dr. Tovey is kind, nice, and honest. Never an issue with his family owned practice. I have been using his business for several years.

Dr. Tovey is a great doctor! He's very personable, really cares and invests in his patients. The rest of the staff is just as invested as well. Such a refreshing environment to go into and not feel like you're being seen and then rushed out. My husband and I are very happy with the choice we made 5 years ago and will continue seeing Dr. Tovey for as long as we can.

I'm not sure where to start because I have had nothing but great experiences with Dr. Tovey and his staff. If you're looking for someone who will: 1.) Take their time and not rush you 2.) Listen to your concerns and provide very useful feedback 3.) Be an absolute pleasure to converse with 4.) Consistently provide you with quality care and examinations Then Dr. Tovey is exactly who you're looking for because he'll check every box in the list above and more. The staff are super helpful and you're in and out without any extra bs involved. Even without insurance the prices are extremely reasonable and to be honest I wouldn't hesitate to pay that for the quality service you get at this place. Dr. Tovey without a doubt is the best in Fresno and surrounding areas and the 5 star rating from other patients can attest to that; and if you're having second thoughts then I hope my words can convince you otherwise, you will not regret coming here. I look forward to coming back for my next eye exam, hopefully at a shorter time interval than my last one :P

Awesomely easy to feel comfortable talking to Dr Tovey about the particulars of your eyes! Extremely highly recommend! Dr Tovey is forthcoming and honest about what's happening with your eyes and what to do about it if procedures may be recommended (such as cataract surgery in my case). And I loved the frames I got there and they were not even expensive!
