This is the best optometrist I've ever seen! I'm typically scared of going see the eye doctor, but Dr. Tang truly made me feel comfortable. She addressed all of my concerns and was able to help me with my issues with dry eye as well. If you want an optometrist that is kind, knowledgeable, and is passionate about patient care, I would really recommend coming to this location and seeing Dr. Tang!
My appt was at 9. I went in to the shop and it was passed 9:10 once they finally arrived. I had waited and even watched them open up. I went into the glasses part first and no one was here so I figured I'd check inside the doctors office. She told me that I had to go check in w someone in the shop. I told her no one was there. She argued with me and said someone was, I told her no there isn't. She insisted on proving someone was by walking me back there, where no one was and then saying "ok then wait for her". She could've said that nicely to start with "oh I'm sorry we are behind she will be back in a moment to check you in!" And I'd have waited.bi do not like being called a liar. Anyway fast forward to my exam. Over and over she acted exasperated towards me. Telling me I barely have a prescription I don't even need my glasses (I have a low level prescription and an astigmatism and my eyes get very tired without them). Any question I had was dismissed. I asked about my night vision getting worse and having trouble seeing in dim light on steps. She asked me where I was with dim lights and I should only go places with good lighting to make sure I put lights in my house. No one can see in the dark. I told her it's not my house. She said "where are you going then?" It felt invasive and weird. As if I only go places where I can control the lighting? I told her many places I am with friends they can see and I cannot see. She told me that's getting older. I was really disappointed with her lack of bedside manner. She had been nice in the past but I won't be back. Very very frustrating.
We decided to give this place a shot since it's closer to home and, hey, all the glowing reviews made it sound like we'd be in good hands. Spoiler alert: not the case.
First off, my wife confirmed they accepted her insurance. Great, right? Except surprise! she later finds out she's being billed for a full exam. Thought it was just her co-pay, nope. Guess that's on her for trusting what they said. Red flag #1.
Then came the 40-minute wait after her scheduled time. She finally gets called in, except it's not even Dr. Mai Tang. Instead, some mystery doctor strolls in like a substitute teacher no one asked for. We specifically booked with Mai Tang. Red flag #2.
The "exam" itself? A joke. They insisted her eye looked "infected" (mind you, she had just woken up and she mentioned this) and refused to give her a prescription unless she coughed up even more cash for an extra procedure to make sure her eye wasn't infected. Because nothing says "great healthcare" like holding your prescription hostage. Red flag #3.
So yeah, glad others had a great experience, but for us? Hard pass. If you like surprise charges, long waits, bait-and-switch doctors, and pressure tactics, this is your spot. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, there are plenty of offices that actually care about their patients and don't treat them like walking dollar signs.
Great experience with Dr. Koh, she is knowledgeable, kind and explained things in a way I could understand. Definitely recommend. I went to the Fullerton location, the staff helped me find the perfect glasses, they didn't rush me into making a purchase, appreciate their kindness!
Kid Friendly optometrist, answers any questions you have and explains what she is doing and testing for as she goes. She helped us understand our benefit and match up with our prescription needs
It's convenient to have Target Optical in our local Target store that accepts our vision insurance and when you need to purchase frames or extras you can use the Red Card discount if there are any out of pocket expenses!!
Also a large variety of frames to choose from. The kids loved the colorful Cat & Jack frames. They have quality value frames and designer options as well. So glad we opted to go with Dr. Mai Tang through Target Optical.
Dr. M. Tang was very kind and wonderful to work with.
I had a great experience and would definitely recommend Dr. Tang to my friends.
My Dr. Was Tricia Kawaguchi. She is awesome. I She makes me want to go to see the eye doctor.
I had an outstanding experience with Dr. Heejung Koh and highly recommend her to anyone in need of eye care. From the moment I walked into the clinic, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. Dr. Koh is not only extremely knowledgeable and thorough in her exams, but also warm, patient, and attentive to every concern I had.
She took the time to explain each step of the eye exam, answered all my questions in a way that was easy to understand, and offered thoughtful recommendations tailored to my needs. Her attention to detail and genuine care for her patients really set her apart.
The office was clean, modern, and well-organized, and the staff were equally professional and friendly. I felt confident and reassured throughout the entire visit.
If you're looking for an optometrist who is both highly skilled and compassionate, Dr. Koh is an excellent choice. I'll definitely be returning for future care and will be recommending her to friends and family
