Last week Tuesday was my first visit to La Mesa Vision Care and it was extremely successful. My appointment was with Dr. Hunter Morgan. I was greatly warmly at the front desk by a young woman who took my information and let me know who would be out to see me first.
I waited for about ten minutes and was asked to follow a nurse to a small room to do several eye tests. She returned me to the waiting room which was attached to their eyeglass area with lots of frame options.
Dr. Morgan came out and got me and escorted me to an exam room. He went through the normal battery of tests. He asked lots of questions and was straightforward with information which I appreciated.
I got my new prescription and took a look around at all of the frames.
All of the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.
I would definitely recommend to facility and Dr. Morgan.
Thank you for the attentive care!
The doctors and desk staff at La Mesa Vision Center are great but I can't give it five stars because the woman who works on the sales side, selling and fitting the eyeglasses, is so unpleasant and condescending that I didn't buy new glasses rather than deal with her. If you need an eye exam and new prescription go here then take the prescription to Costco or anywhere else. The doctor who saw me was very patient and thorough. She listened to my specific concerns and offered several options to accommodate my needs.
This was my second annual appointment. As I stated last year, the Doctor and staff provided excellent service. Always polite, courteous and extremely helpful. 5's
Linda was a great help- she answered all my questions, making the process easy, and helping me navigate eyeglass selection and purchase. It was easy to make an appointment and efficient!
Everyone in the office was very kind and clear about every part of the process. I truly felt taken care of. I would definitely recommend La Mesa Vision Care Center for eye exam and glasses.
A little over 2 years ago I went with my husband to his eye appointment and ended up seeing the Dr that day because I was due for new frames and lenses but my prescription was expired. During my exam, I let the Dr know I was happy with my prescription and did not want to change it. I have a slight astigmatism in my right eye and my glasses were perfect. I was able to show the doctor during my exam that I did not need a new prescription. He completely ignored my request and results of the eye exam and gave me a new much stronger prescription. He assured me this would be much better. Clearly advocating for myself wasn't working and so I decided to trust the doctor's judgment and give him the benefit of the doubt. I picked out some super cute frames that cost way above what my insurance covered, I paid for additional blue blocking and all the extra lense protection. So If I remember correctly I paid out of pocket somewhere around $250 above what my insurance covered. A couple weeks later my new glasses arrived and I went to pick them up. I tried them on and said they are really strong and didn't feel good. The woman behind the counter said it would take a couple weeks to adjust and to wear them for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks all I had was headaches and my vision didn't adjust to the new glasses at all. I called La Mesa Vision and told the woman I talked to (I don't remember her name, it's been 2 years) what was going on. She more or less told me I can pay for another exam out of pocket and purchase new glasses or lenses because I had already used my insurance that year for an exam and glasses... So there was no ownership for their error.
I knew that Dr was about to retire, so I opted to wait, using my old prescription I ordered glasses off cheap websites. As I mentioned, my husband had a great experience there and I wanted to give another Dr another chance to keep us going to the same place.
Fast forward a little over 2 years. I called and verified the older Dr had retired. The woman I spoke to verified it's a new Dr, so I made an appointment about a month ago for SEPTEMBER 29th. Today is September 29th. I showed up for my appointment a few minutes early. The woman behind the counter looks at me and actually said "you actually missed your appointment on OCTOBER 29th", you can probably do the math here and agree that would be impossible... My husband was with me when I made the appointment and verified it was set for September 29th.
Rather than respecting my effort to get to my appointment on time and acknowledging their error, the woman said "maybe I can fit you in this week". Just some perspective, I drove 35 minutes to get to this appointment so that's over an hour of driving round trip and over 60 miles of driving for nothing. The appropriate customer service response here should have been "oh, we must have made a mistake, do you mind waiting a little longer and we can squeeze you in between patients?" Not "let's see if I can make another appointment later this week". Then and there I decided they lost my business.
I then drove to another eye Dr, I have been to in the past. They were booked for the day but agreed to see me today between 2 patients. While talking to that Dr
I explained why I hadn't been to that location in 5 years. She listened to the issues I had, what my vision concerns were, and after checking my eyes agreed with my assessment of my own vision. She said I hit the nail on the head. She checked the prescription on the glasses I was at this location and was just as confused at the huge changes in my prescription from the Dr at this location. She agreed it was completely wrong and fixed the new prescription so I am able to get glasses that actually work for me rather than gaslighting me into getting the wrong prescription.
In my opinion, La Mesa Vision is not operating with integrity. They do not stand by their service or products, they are not willing to make things right and they don't take ownership when they make mistakes and I have seen that from management to the front staff.
I ordered my glasses from Mesa Vision Center almost a month ago, and I still haven't received them. I've been trying to call and ask what's going on, but they keep giving me no real answer and just delaying it every time. Now they don't even answer my calls anymore. Yesterday I finally got someone on the phone, she took my info and said she'd call the lab and get back to me right away but of course she never did. This is really frustrating and disappointing. I just want my glasses or at least some honest communication.
......called up this establishment yesterday morning in hopes of finding a good vsp provider nearby and spoke with victoria, very professional, knowledgeable and friendly, said it'd be a great time to come in for a walk-in like myself........and indeed, she was correct !.......came on in and she remembered oh yes you just called......within a matter of minutes susanna was there to assist me and boy, does she know her stuff.........another friendly, knowledgeable, professional who made my visit easy, relaxing, and she knew exactly which frames i was looking for...and i mean, she knew....answered a few questions and voila, my new burberry's will be ready in 2 weeks.........YAY.........an extremely nice, pleasant, stress-free visit for new glasses and now i know where my new eye care professionals are......i will go back again and encourage others to, as the service was simply impeccable.........thanks everyone, i really appreciated how i was treated..........
