The doctor was good but the service from the assistants and front desk was bad. On the phone the assistant was disrespectful and kept saying she did not understand me because of my accent. They took two days to fill a prescription even though they said they were going to do it on the same day. I had to wait all that time while I was in pain without having the prescription. They were also not clear on what my insurance covered and what I had to pay at the office. As mentioned the doctor was good but the overall the service was poor, so I would not recommend.

It has been a month since I saw doctor Ezra Maguen for the second time. So I'm just sitting at home and remembered my new eye doctor for life. He is knowledgeable, very caring and listens. The whole office is a delight.

I saw an excellent cornea specialist who diagnosed me and recommended Scleral contact lenses to correct my cornea condition. I checked and found that this treatment is covered by Medicare since it is medically necessary. When I came in to be fitted for the lenses I was told they would not bill Medicare and I would have to pay for the lenses if I wanted the treatment. I had to travel a long distance to get to this appointment and I fail to see why they refused to bill Medicare. It's ridiculous that they would expect me pay $2000 to $4000 for something that is covered by my insurance. I'm sure the medical care here is excellent but I can't recommend this practice since they are not willing to work with Medicare for covered treatments. UPDATE; There was no misunderstanding on my part. I went to another provider (UCLA Stein) and was fitted with Sclera lenses. Because of my specific diagnosis, the lenses were covered by Medicare and my supplemental policy. I had a zero dollar copay for the fitting and for the lens itself.

I would like to thank Dr. Ezra Maguen and Terri. I went in for a retinal detachment. They were able to refer me and get me into the right doctor who would take care of my problem. I can't thank them enough for all their professionalism and for helping me. Without their expertise I would probably have lost my vision. Truly the best in their field. Once again thank you!

Experience with the Surgery Coordinator was really wonderful. Place was beautiful. Parking not the best, but people like Alma and Jesse were great. Just wish Cedars Sinai would allow them truly into their system, so I could send Dr. Nesburn, the Ophthalmologist, any questions I would have. I do agree that the Doctor was overbooked. As a new patient, I came in early to fill out documents, but 2-1/2 hours later I was seen. Be aware, that you will need 3-4 hours in this office to be seen. I think, maybe, I should have asked for Dr. Savar instead, because it seems Dr. Nesburn has a lot of patients, and it turns out she was leaving the next day on vacation.

Dr. Barak Maguen, traumatizing experience, ethical misconduct I visited this office on July 6, 2023. It was an annual eye exam. First I was seen by the technician and then entered the office of Dr. Barak Maguen. I notified him that I have had a left eye pain and redness. I informed him that on July 3, 2023 I was seen by a Kaiser Permanente family practice doctor who prescribed Maxitrol eye drops. Once he heard this information, he started endless talk about an 'alleged' the Kaiser doctor wrongdoing and never stopped for my exam. His speculations lasted for more than 40 minutes. He did not perform the eye exam but commenced by comparing the treatment to auto service. I asked him to conduct an annual eye exam, which he reluctantly started and then stopped again for general talks. Then without verification he wanted to give the unverified prescription to me and end the visit. When I asked him to verify if the technician's prescription was correct he went literary mad and left the office telling me to leave. All eye doctors at this Institute verify prescriptions before give them to patients. He sent in the assistant manager to make me leave. I explained that the exam is not complete and I do not have the prescription. Dr. Barak Maguen was standing by, yelling and threatening me to leave. He refused to give the new prescription that were ready but not verified. He literary made a scandal continuing yelling and threatening. I had to leave with no prescription and the incomplete annual eye exam. He broke medical ethics and doctors' standards. What he did for at least 40 min. was speculation about the Kaiser doctors and his inability to provide care. Again I reminded him about the annual exam that I was there for, but he completely disregarded everything and became hysterical. I have been seeing doctors at American Eye Institute since 1997 but never encountered such misconduct and hysteria. It was a terribly bad and traumatizing experience. Bark Maguen should be reviewed and disciplined. Vladimir Melamed

Gordon was one of the worst doctors I've ever seen. Without explaining anything, he roughly scraped a scab off my eyelid using a Q tip, with no warning whatsoever, then refused to explain what he was doing when I asked. He then left the room without answering any questions about my situation, and only say, come back in a week. Honestly kind of in shock about the way this visit was handled. I would suggest avoiding him at all costs.

I don't know what bizarre grudge the other reviewers have, against this exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable and capable eye clinic, but I have found their practice to be extraordinarily reassuring, caring, and of the highest caliber. Their technical skills are unsurpassable. If there is a front office issue, they freely provide you with recourse, if you aren't too egotistical to accept it, and don't prefer moping about it, silently. A clinic like this is the LAST one anybody should trash, because the alternatives have been very disappointing for me, along the lines of the most critical aspect of care: the physician.
