If you buy glasses using insurance at this place, they'll give you the glasses in about two weeks once they're ready. However, they won't include a protective case unless you pay an extra $5. I find that frustrating, because prescription glasses should come with a case to keep them safe--especially considering the price already includes markups (which means the cost of the case is likely already covered in what we paid).
It feels misleading. They make it seem like you're getting a free case if you pay out of pocket, but really, you're already paying more than $5 for it through their profit margins. I wanted to point this out because, honestly, it seems selfish to withhold something so basic--like a glasses case--just because of the insurance you use. It's just $5.
I even called to confirm, and they said it "depends" on the insurance. For example, they said LA Care doesn't cover the case. But correct me if I'm wrong--doesn't insurance pay in real currency? So why deny something as simple and necessary as a glasses case?
Are they suggesting LA Care pays in something like credit, tokens, or Monopoly money instead of U.S. dollars? That would be absurd. It seems like the goal is to get you to break your glasses sooner so you have to come back and spend more. And to top it off, they didn't even include a microfiber cloth to clean the lenses.
Most other places treat customers better and include those essentials--because they value the relationship, not just the money.
Love this place. Been coming here for two years now. When I first came in to get my eyes examined, the tests Dr. Chang performed showed that I needed to wear glasses. He explained to me that one of my eyes are working harder than the other, which explains why I get so tired immediately after i start to read. From the tests, he also concluded that I probably get headaches and also very light sensitive in the dark. Which is true. The glasses he prescribed was a life saver.
After picking out my frames, Roger worked with me in making sure I understood all the options with the types of lenses that they offered, how my insurance benefits work, etc. This guys knows his stuff. I always go to Roger whenever I'm picking up a new pair of glasses or new lenses. He's very up to date with all the new products available. And the guys speaks from experience when recommending a product as well. I really value his opinion.
Dr. Chang and Roger and the main reason I continue to come here. The care and customer service here is top notch. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
I decided to book an appointment at this office after seeing pretty high Google reviews. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Chang was awful. 1) He was very sloppy in performing my eye exam and he didn't have the patience/care that I was hoping for in trying to identify my prescription. He shifted from one lens to another incredibly fast and became frustrated when I couldn't tell the difference in what I was seeing. 2) He gave me a monthly contact lens trial to wear for 15 minutes after I had made explicit that I used daily contact lenses. Again, this exam was not personalized and I felt like he was just going through the motions of what he normally does with other clients. I asked for a daily sample after wasting 15 minutes. 3) Also, he was very judgmental when I threw my trial contact lens away in the trash. He asked "did you just throw that away?!"....to which I responded yes, dailies are only good for 24hrs. 4) I felt somewhat pressured to use the brand of contact lenses that they promote at their office. I've never had this experience before and it wasn't a good one. I walked away without having had a reliable and trustworthy eye exam. I had to write a counter review given that I trusted what I saw online. I have had more caring and careful doctors in my life and don't recommend this service.
Dr. Chang's office staff was very friendly and helpful. They were quick and able to get me into my appointment fast. They even helped fix my old glasses. Dr. Chang did a thorough exam. Would recommend going to him.
Dr Bogard and staff are very nice are AMAZING! Chris is very helpful and is very friendly. He has gone above to give me a good deal! Love coming here and I put all my trust in them. My eyes love them!
Dr. Bogard Chang and his staff were very helpful during my visit. My exam was quick but not rushed, and Dr. Chang was very patient in answering all my questions. Chris his assistant was especially helpful in explaining my very confusing insurance. Overall I was very pleased.
The front staff is very nice, but the doctor's work in my case was terrible. He rushed my eye exam with rinky-dink equipment. Then the lab broke my glasses putting in the new lenses. I had to purchase new frames and then discovered that the prescription for the lenses was wrong. I had to do the exam again, but this time on better equipment. The doctor claimed I was tested on the better equipment the first time, but this was not true. The second set of lenses in the second pair of frames was again the wrong prescription. All the while the doctor was defensive and disinterested, as if he was more concerned about his time than being a thoughtful professional. Finally, I gave up and went to a different optometrist.
I hadn't had an eye exam in a few years and Dr. Chang was able to see me within hours of calling. He was very nice to sit and talk with me about the health of my eyes and helped correct some bad habits that I've had with my contacts for years.
Thanks, Dr. Chang!
