Cataracts don't stand a chance when you're in the skilled hands of Dr. Shiba. I had cataracts in both eyes, and legally blind in one of them. After surgery I could see clearly. A few weeks of recovery and I have 20-20 vision again. Dr. Shiba is professional, courteous, and always made me feel at ease. I would do both eyes again on the same day in a heartbeat. I was searching for a ophthalmologist to perform cataract surgery and found Dr. Shiba. She was given a 5 star rating so I waited 2 months just to get a preliminary consult. After finding out that I was a candidate for the surgery, I waited another month just to get her between her busy schedule. It was worth the wait! Dr Shiba is a rockstar! I had a rare type of cataract that most dr's have never seen. Dr Shiba was able to remove the cataract and keep the sac around the eye in tact. She was very kind and explained the procedure to me in detail, she even called me the night before surgery to see if I had any last minute questions. Yes, it takes time to get into see her but it was well worth the wait.

Having general apprehension about surgeries, and this being a cataract surgery, I casted my net wider to find the best competent surgeon as possible. When I found Dr. Shiba, I decided to go under her care even though that meant that I had to travel to another city.
Dr. Shiba is a busy doctor, but I am glad that I waited to be operated by her. With her competency and personable care, I was able to have almost perfect vision with just the operation on the first eye. It is such a life-changing experience to be able to see clearly without lenses and glasses!
