My mother received very bad news about the condition of her eyes. She has glaucoma and very high eye pressure. That news came from her seeing Dr. Kermani in Newport Beach as well. He suggested we see Dr. Elena Reznick for potential surgery options to bring down her dangerous level of IOP. That was Friday the 26th of July. We made that appointment for Tuesday the 30th at 2.15pm. However, my mother became very ill due to the more severe side effects to the AltaFlour eye drops used at Dr. kerman's office on Friday. She was so ill in the days that followed that I ended up taking her the the ER Monday evening thru Tuesday early morning due to her symptoms. We had every intention to keep the appointment with Dr. Reznick up to the point that she was in the ER. I left a message on the voicemail of Dr. Reznicks office before the office was open. I received a call from the office confirming receipt of that message and Julie let me know that my mother would be charged a $100 late cancellation fee for cancelling. I explained to Julie why we had no choice but to cancel and I asked for her to convey those details to Dr. Reznick. Later on Tuesday, I received a call back from Julie letting me know that despite the unintentional cancellation of the appointment due to the circumstances, the doctor said that "It did not make a difference ', and that my mother would still be billed the $100 fee. Doctors are"supposed" to be healers. Obviously, this specialist did not get that memo when learning her specialty. Instead of understanding and being compassionate about the situation and concerned about a patients well being, she was more concerned about the $$$. BAD BUSINESS Dr. Reznick. My mother is a fragile senior of 76 and in poor health in many ways. You didn't care about that. Instead you cared about your Late fee. Potential new patients BEWARE!!!!! There are many specialists with the same skills but also equipped with a more understanding and considerate mentality toward their patients and humans then counting what goes in their wallet. Cancellation policy or not, to get sick is human, to disregard that and penalize someone for it 6 hours before the appointment and upon getting home from the ER and notifying the office is a FOREVER poor review for your reputation. I will be contacting Medicare and also have already contacted Dr. Kerman's office to let him know how upsetting this was.

Dr. Reznik did my eye surgery and saved me from going blind. She is a great surgeon and a compassionate doctor. I HIGHLY recommend her.

Dr. Alena Reznik is compassionate and lovely. She cares deeply about her patients. She goes above and beyond and even calls her patients personally when she is worried about them.
