Dr. Shamie is an outstanding surgeon with an impeccable reputation. I have personally spoken with several patients who have undergone surgery with her, and each one has shared a successful outcome and a very positive experience. In addition to her surgical excellence, she brings warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion to every interaction. She is a skilled physician, and a truly caring and gracious person. I would also like to mention that every member of her team from the financial staff to the assistants and clinical team-is professional, patient and caring. The entire experience reflects a practice of values excllence and compassion at every level.

Dr. Shamie is an amazing doctor. She has the best bedside manner and really cares about her patients and the quality of care that you receive in her office. I had the best experience with her office and the results were beyond my expectations. Every person I came into contact with at her office as well as the surgery center was kind, professional and extremely knowledgable.

From the beginning, I experienced communication and coordination issues. I was scheduled for consultation and surgery on the same day, but only during the consultation was I told surgery would proceed that day only if Dr. Shamie determined I qualified. This was not explained in advance. If that was the policy, the consultation should have been scheduled separately -- as Dr. Alan Berg, whom I ultimately chose, later did -- so my work schedule would not have been cleared unnecessarily. I was not contacted with instructions to stop wearing contact lenses three days prior and had to call the office to confirm pre-operative guidelines. When I later raised concerns, I was told prior phone calls had been reviewed via recordings. I had not been informed calls were recorded, and none were shared with me. During consultation, I was quoted approximately $12,000 for ICL after being told I did not qualify for LASIK due to thin, irregular corneas and that risks could include corneal transplant. This was alarming, as I had never been told I had corneal abnormalities despite 25 years of eye exams in Italy and the United States. When I asked follow-up questions due to conflicting staff information and the significant cost difference, I received responses including "I am the surgeon" and "I am the one who decides." Rather than feeling reassured, I felt dismissed. Staff were called into the room to confirm statements I referenced, which made the interaction feel confrontational. I was told ICL would require at least two additional weeks for lens ordering, despite originally being scheduled that same week. I returned twice more, incurring additional time and expense, and experienced the same tone. The situation became emotionally overwhelming. My father had flown from Italy to support me during surgery and recovery, and I was navigating a major decision involving a $12,000 investment and longer healing. At one point, I apologized "if I had done anything to upset her" and offered a hug in an effort to ease tension so I could proceed with surgery. I was then directed to schedule a consultation with Dr. O'Hara. I rearranged my work schedule to attend, but he did not appear. I was initially told I could meet him the next day, which I agreed to, only to then be informed he had left for a trip and would not return for two weeks. When I raised concern about the missed appointment, I was told that since I work for myself it should not have been an issue. It was also suggested Dr. O'Hara may have felt uncomfortable, despite never having met or spoken with me. After contacting my referring eye doctor for another opinion, I received early morning calls directly from Dr. Shamie stating she had spoken with him. During that call, severe complications were again emphasized, including transplant risk, along with statements such as "in medicine things can always go wrong," which heightened my anxiety before surgery. I had been told permanent lenses were ordered, but during that call I learned the order hadn't been placed and there was no record with her staff of the surgery. Only then was I told I needed asthma clearance; my doctor had just retired, which was especially distressing since I had requested President's Day weekend scheduling to allow one extra recovery day after my had father left the country at that point and I was alone. During multiple interactions, I was addressed as "sweetheart" while discussing surgical risks and significant financial commitments, which felt patronizing in that context. I ultimately consulted Dr. Alan Berg, who my eye doctor referred me to. My experience was markedly different: he evaluated me thoroughly, confirmed I was a strong LASIK candidate, and said transplant risk was not a concern. He even recommended ICL to a patient scheduled after me, which reinforced my confidence in his judgment. I proceeded with LASIK over President's Day weekend as planned; the procedure was successful, recovery was smooth, and he stayed involved in post-op care. His staff was kind, professional, and reassuring.

I first saw Dr. Neda Shamie last May (2016) from an optomotrist's emergency referral, after experiencing severe photophobia (sensitivity to light). Dr. Shamie saved my vision and comforted me through a horrific health scare. I will spare you from the gruesome details about the parasite that decided to camp out and multiply in my corneas... but I will say that the through all the pain, trauma, and fear of losing my vision or needing surgery/transplants - Dr. Shamie prevented the worst from happening. She was consistently kind, caring and meticulous from the consultation, diagnosis and throughout the treatment process. I know my circumstances were serious, but I hope this review gives you reference to the extremity of the cases she deals with and how she handles them with the utmost care and diligence. Dr. Shamie gives her patients strength, comfort and without any false promises she was always honest and positive. She remained available to me even after hrs and I could not have gotten through this without her. I have returned to 20/20 vision without the need of surgery or transplants and will be forever thankful to Dr. Shamie - you will always have a place close to my heart, you have been my saving grace this past year. I have so much love for you and the compassion you give to your patients. Highly recommend this doctor, from deep trust, experience and above ideal results. THANK YOU DR SHAMIE!!! I am hoping to schedule LASIK with her next May (2017).

Dr. Shamie is the best! Three weeks ago (1/24/18), she did both a cornea transplant and cataract repair on my left eye. This is my fourth cornea transplant, second on this eye. This is by far the best experience I've had. Vision is clearing very quickly. I've been to many ophthalmologists over the past 50 years with keratoconis, including very highly respected cornea specialists on both coasts. And my conclusion is that Dr. Shamie is in a league of her own with her knowledge, skills, and compassion. I thank the Divine Intelligence for bringing me to her!

Dr. Shamie has been my ophthalmologist for all the years I've lived in Los Angeles. When her practice moved, I followed, because she's a trustworthy, accomplished, highly credentialed, and very personable professional who makes my annual trip to the eye doctor something I actually look forward to. After years of routine eye exams, this year, for the first time, I had a problem that required significant treatment: A cyst developed on my eyelid. I very much appreciated Dr. Shamie's efforts to treat it minimally at first (with injections) before resorting to a surgical solution. When surgery proved necessary, she was very focused, efficient, and compassionate. She talked me through each step of the process; I always felt fully informed. Eyelid surgery is exactly as unpleasant as it sounds, but Dr. Shamie's bedside manner made it much more tolerable, and the problem was solved with flawless results. I recommend her highly.
