World class doctors but expensive. They see a lot of patients a day and expect to be a slow and painful process to be seen. Need to be patient. Recommend for glaucoma specialists or complicated cases

I've been a patient at Jules Stein since 2006. The doctors are great. The billing department is horrendous. I've had 5 surgeries/procedures performed and the billing department was good until 2021. The day before surgery in 2021 they tell me they will cancel my procedure because they will no longer take my insurance, the day of my surgery a few hours after I'm coming out of anesthesia they are calling me to pay thousands of dollars, for months they refused to provide an itemized bill. My last visit this year, they would not submit my statement to insurance with my referral nor would they pickup my phone calls to discuss why. I had to involve an insurance referral specialist and even then it took several months for her to resolve the problem. In the meantime, I'm receiving letters say they are going to take action against me to collect payment. Please improve for the sake of those who need the advanced abilities of UCLA ophthalmology.

I absolutely love my eye dr. She has provided me with the best care. I don't have one negative thing to say about my eye Dr. This one star review is strictly for the staff that handle phone calls. I've tried to make an appt for the past month now. I've left several voicemails, not one call back. After finally getting through my visual field test order had expired and had to wait for the Dr to write an order for that specific test and the next available for an eye exam was not until August 2024. This conversation happened in early Feb. Once my Dr wrote the order I have called non stop to try and make an appointment but to no avail. I'm currently trying to get ahold of someone right now. I called earlier this morning and opted for the phone call back after waiting 30min and never received that call back. Now I've been waiting on hold (have yet to speak with a human >:( for over an hour. I think it may be time to find another Dr unfortunately.

I've also left a similar review for the head of Opthalmology, Dr. Prasad. Don't expect them to answer the phone. Over promise and severely under deliver. "We'll call you back today." No one calls. In the last 10 years, patient care has disappeared. We are now cattle. When Dr. Hubschman was at Jules Stein, they were responsive. Now, I can't reach anyone in retina, ever. Well, one time a week ago. Now, I just leave messages with the off-site answering service. They expect patients to jump through hoops delivering on their requests and then they kick you to the curb to suffer irreparable damage from AMD. Their total lack of responsiveness causes the advancement of damage from AMD. This can result in blindness. I used to recommend Jules Stein because Dr. Hubschman saved my Mom's vision and mine when I was a UCLA student. Now I'm looking to go to the East coast for the -best- patient care for AMD.

Wish i could give negative stars. Nobody cares at this place. Staff is horrible. Flew down for eye appt and they tell me at the time of my appt the doctor is not there anymore and just gave me an oh well. They just don't care. Then said they'd reimburse me for travel expenses and never did. Problems every time i go. Unorganized. Waited all day to see doctor on two different occasions because they were overbooked. Forgot to get authorization for me on 3 different occasions ahead of appointment. Luckily i found another office eventually that treats my eye condition. Complete disaster

Worst experience I've ever had. They "had a crazy day" so they couldn't help me with an emergency eye problem. Someone at the front desk started to tell me about using warm compresses (which I have been doing for the passed week already). Then they couldn't validate my parking so I could go to another clinic without paying $15 for parking. I had to wait on the manager to come back with no idea how long that could take. Never coming back

Eye exam with visual fields and optometrist visit. Monitoring glaucoma level in both eyes.
