Had been a customer for over 2 decades. However my last purchase has been a nightmare. True, the frames are rare but been put off for 6 plus months and consistently lied too is a bit much. I requested my $600 payment and glasses I sent and have received Nada. Time to report to the Better Business Bureau to have them review this shoddy business.

Highly recommended by my best friend. I am struggling to use progressive lenses. I listened to Arne's advice and purchased three pairs of glasses for all my needs. As he said I would never like progressives. A week after getting my glasses, I asked if the distance ones could be changed out and have bifocals so I could read. He then told me about some magical progressives which would be better but now it's $500 in and I don't live in LA so why is he suggesting this magical solution now. I was so frustrated by the situation and trying to make sense of his roundabout way of talking- trying to keep on track was a full time job. two days later I called back to ask about this special progressive in case I wanted to persue it elsewhere and not go through the trouble I went through. He immediately brushed me off and told me he had people in the store and something nonsensical. I have given him too much of my time and money for really bad advice and while my glasses sort of work I never got a solution to my situation.

We have been using Arne for about 20 years and have had nothing but excellent service. We highly recomend them. Eye still use them on all my optical devices and the really help me see the world optimistically instead of misty optically.

Arne's slogan should be: We'll promise you a price that sounds too good to be true - Because it is! In December I dropped by the store to ask for an estimate on making me lenses with all the current bells and whistles that my current sunglasses had (I needed a new prescription). The high-end lenses had every option imaginable and I didn't want to sacrifice any feature. Arne's colleague said he could make a comparable pair for $250, which seemed like a ridiculously low price. He assured me that the lens would be a Zeiss or something comparable and that he could get the lenses in about 48 hours. I was going away so I took a shot. It took more than a week to make the lenses. They were so badly made I could barely see out of them. Moreover, they did a poor job of protecting me from glare. I took them back and the colleague said he'd remake them. It took about six weeks (yes, six weeks) to get the second pair, and while the reading quality improved, it offered virtually no protection from the sun. The colleague assured me it was a Zeiss lens and had everything my original lenses had. I took the lenses to a Venice store I've since found that I trust and asked the owner if he could figure out where Arne cut corners. He said the lenses weren't Zeiss but a low-end generic brand, the reading component of the progressive lens was way too small, and the lenses weren't polarized (Why get sun glasses that aren't polarized?). Afterwards, I met with Arne who denied his colleague ever promised me a polarized Zeiss lens for $250. He accused me of trying to "trick him" and insisted that I knew full well you can't get a high-end polarized lens for less than $500. He basically called me a liar. Arne said he'd make me a polarized lens for $500, but I would have to pay the difference. He wouldn't refund my money. It's my word against the colleague's, but know this: I went to another store to have the replacement lens made and paid $500 to have them done right and with all the possible available options. I'm out $250 for the cheapo lens Arne made me but I value my eyesight and want maximum vision and protection. I've been buying only high-end lenses for decades and there has never been an instance where I'd settle for cheapo lenses. The colleague repeatedly assured me he made a Zeiss lens. If you want cheapo lenses that are poorly made, you can go online and pay a lot less than Arne charges. If you trust your eyes to this store, don't say you weren't warned. I wouldn't trust Arne or his colleague to even clean my glasses.

I broke my computer glasses on Friday, so I needed a fast pair. This company is my neighborhood, so I thought I'd give it shot. I called up and explained my need. The person that answered the call was gracious and informative. When I showed up, he remembered my name from the call, always a good sign. I picked out my frame and went out eat as my prescription was being filled. I had the completed order in about 30 minutes.. The glasses were a bit off from my originals, but Arne told me to check back with my doctor. If new lens were indeed needed, they have a 30 day satisfaction guaranteed policy and they would replace the lens at no charge. What's not to like?

Todd and Ernie are the best and they have very fair prices. I've been going to them for about 20 years. I live 105 miles South of LA and I still use them now.

Like others, i have been working with Arne and Todd for over 20 years, gotten the best of service and products, saved a lot of money and developed warm and supportive relationships.

BEST Optical in LA! I had a great experience with this shop. All of the staff are very friendly, fast service, great price and many different options to chose from. absolutely love it
