I had my first cataract surgery with Dr. Hamilton three weeks ago. The experience was truly amazing. Dr. Hamilton surrounds himself with kind, caring people, and is very good at what he does. Since then, I have had my other eye done. I am so happy with the vision I now have. I have worn glasses since I was six years old. Today I am glasses free and have 20/20 vision in both eyes. Thank you Dr. Hamilton for giving me a whole new world.
Dr Hamilton is fantastic! I only had one eye done because he realized that my distance eye had improved . Any other doctor might not have checked for that improvement. The surgery on the other eye went so well that although I was aware to what was going on and was able to respond to requests of Dr. Hamilton, I felt no pain. The day after the surgery I told Dr. Hamilton that I wouldn't have thought he did the surgery if it wasn't for my great eyesight!! All off the staff was friendly and very professional. They were awesome!
After an ordeal I went through at another facility, I was apprehensive to have the cataract surgery on my second eye. After an extensive search for a new surgeon, as soon as I met Dr. David Hamilton, I knew I was in good hands. He is a great communicator - very informative and explained things in detail; a good listener, he spent time addressing all the concerns I had from my previous experience.
I met his team on the day of the surgery who were all friendly, attentive and professional. I could tell they're all into what they're doing, and with pride. It travels from the top down. Not only is Dr. Hamilton a first class surgeon, you are also well taken care of Pre and Post Op.The facility is pleasant, organized and well run. I am so happy with the care I received; this is Day 5, and so far, so good! I can see so much clearer!
Thank you Dr. Hamilton and the team - you're the best!!
I recently had cataract surgery performed by Dr. David Hamilton. I cannot begin to express how completely and totally satisfied I am with Dr. Hamilton and his wonderful, professional staff. I had some concerns and fears about the surgery including whether I would need glasses to read after the surgery. Dr. Hamilton addressed all of my concerns in a professional yet friendly manner. My expectations were greatly exceeded thanks to Dr. Hamilton and the Tecnis Symfony lens he suggested. The difference is night and day. I can see clearly and in focus. Everything is brighter and more vivid. And, most importantly I do not need glasses to read. My only regret is waiting so long to have the cataract surgery. I CAN SEE AGAIN.
I cannot express in words how happy I am regarding my experience at UCLA Jules Stein, and with the surgical talent, experience, and caring of Dr. Hamilton's team.
Prior to meeting with Dr. Hamilton I had consultations with two other doctors. No explanations, no time to spend with a patient.
It was a night and day difference when I met Dr. Hamilton.
Dr. Hamilton's professionalism, his approach to educate a patient, and the time he spent during my consultation let me know, here is a doctor who enjoys what he does.
I was immediately confident in Dr. Hamilton. He took his time to explain my condition, my options, and his recommendations.
It has now been two months since my first eye surgery, followed two weeks later for my second eye (cataracts removed, astigmatism corrected, Symfony lens implanted). Amazing! Amazing!
The surgery is virtually pain free, and vision is immediately improved. For example, at my first post surgery appointment, the day following surgery, my eye tested at 20/20. An additional pleasant surprise was that everything was brighter and colors were more vivid! When I closed the corrected eye and looked through the other eye, it was as if I was looking through a sepia lens or dirty window. I couldn't wait to have my second eye corrected.
Having my vision corrected with Symfony lens, and having "perfect" vision across all spectrums (distance, mid-range, reading) has been life altering. BEST money I have spent in ages!! It is the gift that keeps on giving.
I personally am not one who usually writes reviews or comments. However, I am so impressed with Dr. Hamilton. He is a doctor who takes his time to explain, has the surgical expertise, and is both professional and caring. He definitely sets the tone for his entire team, all of whom are first rate. Additionally, the facilities at UCLA Jules Stein are state of the art. Very pleasant for a surgical facility!!
I couldn't be happier with outcome of my cataract surgery. From the initial appointments for evaluations and measurements through the surgery for both eyes Doctor Hamilton was informative and reassuring. And skillful! Qualities that his entire staff possesses. I now enjoy clear vision and can read close up beyond my expectations.
Thank you Doctor Hamilton!
One of two reviews: 7/1/2014: It just doesn't get any better than this.....Dr. Rex Hamilton performed another successful eye surgery on one of my family members. This time - Lasik surgery on Sean - June 2014. He was scheduled for Lasik surgery in both eyes. However, as I understand it, when Sean had the initial extensive eye exam at UCLA in 2013, he was a potential Lasik candidate for both eyes after the Pterygium surgery healed. The Pterygium surgery Dr. Hamilton performed on Sean in Oct 2013 healed perfectly to include improving his eye sight in his left eye and Lasik surgery did not need to be performed at this time - now Dr. Hamilton is a man of integrity. Side note, you can't even see where the Pterygium was in his eye. Sean is so grateful to be able to see perfect and he even said Dr. Hamilton is an outstanding doctor. Dr. Hamilton believes in perfection backed up by being a precise experienced surgeon, his bedside manner, and great personality. Dr. Hamilton surrounds himself with an outstanding support team to include Alice and Vince. Score: 5 out of 5 over-the-top successful eye surgeries on our family in 8 months without ANY issues or problems.
Thank God for Dr. Hamilton and his wonderful staff! Now we can go around singing, "I Can See Clearly Now!"
Two of two reviews: 11/17/2013: OK, now where do I begin telling my story of the "miracles" Dr. Hamilton performed on 3 generations (4 patients total - start to finish in 1 1/2 months)? To begin with I searched the Southern California "planet" looking for the best eye surgeon - we're talking I spent A LOT of brain cells on this and finally found Dr. Hamilton. So then I YELPED him to see if he was all that I heard he was before making the decision to make appointments for myself and our 2 grandkids - yep, he passed the test with A+++++s. My family and I had the following requirements if we were candidates: Sean (grandson) - Pterygium removal; Lindsay (granddaughter) - Lasik surgery (she could not get out of bed and see without her glasses or inserting her contact lens); me - cataracts in both eyes hampering my vision; and Laura (daughter) at the last minute took my 9/24/2013 appointment as she had stitches in her eyes from previous cataract surgeries ~4 years ago that were scratching the inside of her eyelids (OMG).
I must mention Dr. Hamilton has an incredible staff (thank you) who ensure every attention to detail is taken care of and to put patients more at ease when you visit his office. In particular, Alice Youn and Vince Hall are up there at the top - we hope you enjoy working with them as much as we did.
We were all candidates for the surgeries mentioned above - for sure, Dr. Hamilton is a positive results oriented eye surgeon - 4 out of 4 patients had successful, positive ending results. Now we are all free to roam about the country with our "new" eyes.
Side note, Dr. Hamilton did laser cataract surgery with the insertion of the Tecnis multifocal lens on both of my eyes. The results are SOOOOOOO amazing and I was off and running in 2 weeks. My husband wrote a "fun" letter to Ann Landers he sent to his sister that said in part, "I am very worried and concerned that after this 2nd procedure is completed she will be able to see right through me and quite possibly even read my mind." Yep, I can do both now thanks to Dr. Hamilton, ha!
Hopefully, the above is enough to convince you to give Dr. Hamilton a try - how can 4 out of 4 patients be wrong!
I refer to Dr. Hamilton as the Miracle Man! First of all, he repaired a bad outcome cataract surgery by another physician in one of my eyes. Once I could "see" clearly in that eye, he performed cataract surgery on my other eye. I now see perfectly and am so thrilled with his work. Everyone was wonderful at his office, and Dr. Hamilton is kind, personable, and very willing to explain procedures and what to expect in the healing process. I couldn't be more pleased!!
