UCLA Stein Eye Institute, Edie & Lew Wasserman Building

Today 11/01/2024 I accompanied my cousin that scheduled for his cataract surgery at 300 Stein plaza UCLA. We checked in at 11 am at the lobby I spent most of the day there in order to take my cousin home afterward. I like the facility and staffs that work there. The only thing that bother me during the time I spent there has to be receptionist at the check in desk in the lobby. Seems like other than check in patients she often on the phone talking to her relatives or even co worker who work at the same facility mostly commended on issues of the company policies or her personal issues which appeared to public as unprofessional. But when she step away from the desk, I can feel the serenity of the facility has returned.

My nose , forehead & mouth were severely damaged by anesthesia team while double vision surgery !!!! This is unprofessional, unacceptable & criminal!!!!! Further measures will be applied

My doctors are good, no concerns there. However, I find the building inhospitable. You cannot get even a cup of water to take a medication. The intake desk seem to take delight in telling you the closest place to get a bottle of water is at Ralph's market. It's hard to believe that a drink machine cannot be installed for both staff and patient's convenience.

I recently had cataract and refractive lens surgery (on both eyes) performed by surgeon, Dr. David Rex Hamilton, Dr. Fang (anesthesiologist) and Dr. Linda Hwang O.D. (as a follow-up physician) at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. I have never written an endorsement in my life, but Dr. Hamilton and his nursing and hospital colleagues are the best. I mean the best.I volunteered to do this endorsement. No one coaxed me to issue the same. [I am not given to gushing over people, or even friends, so therefore this unqualified (no, enthusiastic!) endorsement is really singular in character and wholly warranted.] About eight or more years ago, Dr. Hamilton performed LASIK surgery on my wife's eyes, and she was insistent that I go see him. He is youthful in demeanor, highly positive and energetic, and very, very smart. The nursing staff was very warm and caring. Please, please use Dr. Hamilton for your own eyes. (After all, you will only be blessed by two of them in this lifetime, and why try anyone but the best? Why take a chance on a "B" team experience [or possibly worse?] Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Fang and Dr. Hwang are three of the most pleasant physicians I have encountered in a long time . . .but their state-of-the art equipment and academic skill in their field are really what set them all apart. Worst experience ever. They appear to be closed for business but won't tell you. Instead they come up with one "demand" after another, asking for your doctor to call them even if you got a referral. And finally they asked for a USD 2,500 deposit for an eye check-up PRIOR to the appointment. Is this still legal?

The Stein eye Institute is one of the best in the world. They are very busy but it's best to go to the best possible care option when you are dealing with an eye issue.
