Dr. Hong has given me the best eye care I have ever received. For both my contacts and glasses, she has made small adjustments to my fit and rx that have resulted in comfort and performance that I didn't think was possible. She is very pleasant and patient with my (probably annoying ) plethora of questions. I really trust her and highly recommend.

I had my first eye exam in Years with Modern Eyes and I could not have been more happy to have chosen Dr.Hong and her team. The staff is exceptional and the eyewear selection is Top Tier!! The exam itself was great and Dr.Hong made me very comfortable and confident with the testing. The office is extremely clean and gives a serene vibe throughout. I can't wait for my Tom Fords! Dr. Hong truly goes above and beyond to ensure the best eye care. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly, answer any questions, and conduct a professional eye exam. When I went in again for eye irritation, she was incredibly patient and explaining + exploring different drops for best results.

My experience at Modern Eyes Optometry with Dr. Hong and Sarah and Olivia was easily the best experience I've ever had in 27 years of going to such places. Dr. Hong is likewise the best optometrist I've ever had, and I can tell that from just one visit with her. She helped my vision in ways the last two optometrists never even suggested! Then her team helped me pick out a new pair of eyeglasses that I love. The eye center itself is bright and, well, modern looking! This is as good of an experience one can have with a local business in all aspects.

I can see much better - and in style! I used to get my progressive lenses from a big retailer. I never got used to them and my eyes felt strained. I decided to try a local doctor to see if I got better results. Dr. Hong is an outstanding doctor! She took the time to explain what my eyes were doing and answered all of my questions. She is a true professional and very kind.
When it came time to find a new frame, something I always find arduous, Sarah came up with some great options for me and found the perfect frame very quickly - very comfortable and very stylish.
After several weeks of wearing my new glasses I am thrilled I found Dr. Hong and Sarah at Modern Eyes. They are my go-to for all eyewear! I can see much better than I could with my old glasses.

If you're looking for an excellent optometrist, I highly recommend Maureen Hong in Monterey. She's a local single mom has been working for 20+ years, and just recently opened her own place about a year ago. Business has been slow because her location does not have any foot traffic, but she is amazing at what she does. She did a thorough exam, and after some thoughtful questions was able to dial back my prescription so that I would have less eye strain, and its worked out great! She also has gorgeous designer frames from France and Japan and other places that I haven't seen anywhere else. She puts a lot of time and effort into getting the prescription and the frames right. I just think she deserves more business because she really cares and is great at what she does!
