Family Vision Care & Contact Lenses Optometric Center

I would like to begin by addressing my experience at the optometrist's office. I had scheduled an appointment for both glasses and contact lens fitting. However, the office declined to conduct my contact lens exam, claiming that it was not covered by my insurance. They insisted on additional payment for this service, which I refused. After contacting my insurance provider (VSP), I confirmed that my contact lens exam was indeed covered. I was puzzled as to why the office was requesting extra payment. Following my examination, they attempted to sell me glasses from their establishment. Politely, I declined as their prices were considerably higher than those at Costco. When I requested a copy of my prescription, I was informed that it would take a day or two to process, which seemed unusual as most optometrists provide it immediately. Eventually, after a few days, I received my prescription from their office. I decided to order my glasses from Costco. Upon receiving my new glasses, I experienced difficulty seeing out of my left eye. I contacted the doctor's office, and they rescheduled my appointment. During the examination, they discovered a typographical error in my prescription - a positive number instead of a negative one. Surprisingly, there was no apology from the doctor's office. I had to return to Costco to order new lenses, which was quite inconvenient. This entire ordeal was a nightmare. I have decided not to return to their office and would not recommend it to anyone else. It appears that their primary focus is on maximizing profits rather than providing quality care. I wanted these glasses for my coming vacation and ended up with old glasses

Family Vision Care's Emergency Medical Eye Care took me in same day for a torn retina situation. Dr. Santa Maria took excellent care of me. The staff was very considerate and professional. I highly recommend Family Vision Care and their emergency medical eye care services.

Optometrist here the actually pretty good, and give a thorough examination. It's just the frames are pricy, and not a great selection. Upon trying to book our 3rd appt in 3 years the front office staff had issues confirming our coverage which changed slightly. They were like ordering us do stuff that was incorrect. When I got to the bottle of the issue I called them back, but they were just rude at that point. Just FYI for the front office. If someone switches to COBRA they need to have the client call the provider, and not COBRA, or the employer. You were in network, and I was trying to call back to inform the front office's to better help patients moving forward. I just needed to tell the we switched to EyeMed. You are in network for that.

I have "extreme" eyes and have felt welcome and accommodated every appoint. Highly recommend!

Paul is amazing and I will be seen by him every time now and no one else. He was able to give me vision with the use of Scleral Lenses. I recommend him!
