This office of the best Optometry office I have ever been too. On top of that, one of the best experiences I have had in a very stressful confusing medical history. Simon, is amazing. She is so sweet and has such a warm and inviting demeanor. She instantly calmed my nerves and made me feel so cared for. She asked if I was sensitive to the lights to warm me before taking photos which but I could tell she really cared. She told me it might smell like alcohol still which was amazing knowing a lot of people can be sensitive to smells. Dr. Shumaker came out before my appt when I got there just to thank me for filling out the forms, coming, and to tell me he would be with me shortly. The exam was incredibly thorough and for the first time I am hopeful that at least the eye doc I am seeing can help alleviate the symptoms I am having and understands why I'm having them. Dr. Shumakers colleague was no exception. She also was equally as kind and patient with me. It's rare to find a place like this. I am so grateful. Thank you all for easing my stress and making me feel valued and listened too! You are all amazing! -Ariana V.

AMAZING! Dr. Shumaker has a wonderful bedside manner. He is clear in his communications and cares about his patients. His staff is THE BEST. They really go above and beyond to care for the kiddos. I wanted to collect a superbly for reimbursement purposes for insurance. The receptionist was always welcoming and helpful. Rising Star is on top of the universe for patient and customer care. Dr. Negin Aboutorabian is an outstanding optometrist! She was so great with our son--who is generally very anxious around doctors--and guided him through his first eye appointment with ease. This is a wonderful office with modern equipment and excellent staff. Parking is free and easy due to location. We are looking forward to returning to pick up his first pair of glasses and coming back for future check-ups.

Dr. Shumaker has been our daughter's optometrist for almost 10 years. She initially saw another doc somewhere else who was totally uninformative and hardly spent any time with her. Dr. Shumaker has been very thorough and has given us confidence that we are doing the best we can for our daughter's eyes. He is also very personable, good with kids, and passionate about his work. Dr. Jeremy Shumaker joined the practice in 2005 and expanded their offerings to include general exams for adults and kids, pediatric and specialty contact lens fittings including myopia control, and sports performance enhancement and concussion rehabilitation through vision training. Dr. Grisham retired in 2020 and Dr. Shumaker has taken over the practice. Dr. Shumaker serves as Chief of the Sports Vision and Concussion Clinic and is an assistant clinical professor, mentoring fourth year optometry students and serving patients referred from bay area hospitals and clinics including UCSF, Stanford, and youth and professional sports teams.
