Joanne Gronquist, OD

I was referred here by the VA through care in the community. I saw Dr. Gronquist in November 2024. I waited for them to send me the prescription after the exam. I didn't receive my prescription until February 2025 when I reached out to the office. It still took them a week to mail it to me. Upon receiving the prescription, I ordered a pair of glasses from Zenni. When I received the pair I immediately got a headache and I felt like throwing up. I reached out to the office and they said I needed to go back in to see if the prescription was wrong. Why would it be wrong in the first place? And why would I go back to then wait months to receive a prescription? There was no review of my previous prescription or anything. I went to a new optometrist today closer by me in Goleta. They confirmed that the Gronquist prescription was wrong.

I have received an annual exam, contact fitting exam and follow-up check up with Joanne Gronquist in the last two months and I have to say that I am very impressed with her warmth, patience, and expertise. When she doesn't immediately have an answer for me, she works hard to find it and follow-up, and she was incredibly patient and helpful with a first-time contact user in getting me comfortable with the process and the right fitting contacts. She and her staff are also more than happy to provide you a prescription that you can fill in-office or take elsewhere - I never felt like she was trying to upsell me on anything. I am so happy to have finally found an OD in Santa Barbara who doesn't make me feel like I'm buying a used car every time I go in for a yearly visit!

Our family has seen both Dr Joanne and Dr Tem and we think both of them are excellent. We've been very pleased with the thorough and top quality care we receive. We're so glad we've found the Drs Gronquist!
