Paveloff Vision Center: Michael Paveloff, M.D.

I'm writing this review to acknowledge Dr Paveloff and his staff at the Vision Center. My recent experience with cataract surgery was flawless. Dr Paveloff's expertise was on full display for me. His command and communication during the procedure was completely reassuring. His prediction on lens correction was spot on. His staff, as well as the staff at the Santa Barbara Surgery Center were first rate. And most importantly the result has been excellent. If you are in need of cataract surgery, I could not recommend Dr Paveloff more highly. Dan Onorato

Dr. Paveloff is simply the BEST! I struggled with bad vision and wore glasses/contacts since the 5th grade and recently was told I needed cataract surgery. That was over a year ago while stressing over eye surgery! I finally decided to see this highly recommended doctor and from my first meeting with his very professional staff and consulting with Dr. Paveloff I knew I was in the right place. Dr. Paveloff is a rare combination of professionalism, expertise and care. I am so happy with my "new eyesight" and finally don't need to wear glasses! My wife and I have always maintained a relationship with an ophthalmologist since 1980's. First in the SF Bay area and then when we moved to Santa Barbara in 2006. Our first years in SB we were with another doctor for annual exams, but never fully satisfied with his practice. My wife with 20/300 vision had worn various versions of contacts for more than 45 years and suffered through all the normal hassle and maintenance they require on a daily basis. She was following the advancement of laser assisted procedures for correcting one's vision and in 2018 decided the technology had advanced to a point where there was nearly a 100% success rate. However, she was not willing to utilize our then doctors practice for the procedure and began to explore and network for another doctors practice. We received numerous recommendations for Dr.Paveloff and we both transferred to his practice. The difference was almost like Night and Day. His building, offices and equipment are all new, perfectly clean and up-to -date with a very professional staff. We both found Doctor Paveloff very easy going, gives a good examination, answers all our questions thoroughly, has extensive experience in maintaining the vision health of all his patients, plus has done hundreds of the laser assisted procedures. My wife had the procedure done and was extremely pleased with the results. No more contacts! I more recently reached the age where my cataracts were starting to affect my (initial 20/30) vision. In early 2026 I also had the procedure of cataract removal and new interocular lenses installed. The procedure is done at the Surgical Center on de La Vina, the staff there are super friendly and very experienced. With my cataracts removed and new lenses I no longer need my 'readers' for looking at the computer or reading small print and my distance vision is super clear, bright and now 20/20 again. We highly recommend Paveloff Vision Center to our friends and neighbors.

Staff all friendly and efficient. Dr Paveloff's explanations are thorough and his surgical skills gave me confidence. No pain and results are good. I recommend this medical team and the office system Dr Paveloff has in place.

Dr. Paveloff was highly recommended and I was extremely happy with his skill and his relaxed, friendly, professional presence. As a true professional he was also interested in who I was and how I conducted my life. AND his support staff was wonderful and I could feel that his relationship with staff was friendly and authentic. I would recommend him to both friends and family.

I had such a wonderful experience getting my cataracts removed plus corrective lenses implanted by Dr. Paveloff. The whole procedure from start to finish was professional, greatly successful and everyone was so kind. Dr. Paveloff is excellent in what he does and how he cares for his patients. Since I began wearing glasses in 4th grade I can now see better than I ever have and better than I ever imagined I could at the age of 75! Thank you Dr. Paveloff and the whole Vision Center staff!

I was extremely disappointed with Paveloff Vision Center, although Dr Paveloff came highly recommended to me by my ophthalmologist. Dr Paveloff appeared very intelligent and experienced, but, my visit for a laser cataract surgery consult was rushed and impersonal. Others have said he answered questions, but I found him more interested in carrying on a monologue with himself. He talked at me and over me, conveying the feeling he had delivered his speech hundreds of times, and would not be interrupted by me. In addition, the office staff seemed totally indifferent. I had to request a report myself. Finally, my desire to return was completely obliterated by the billing person, who argued with me re my insurance coverage - said the surgery would not be covered as the procedural code they use is "cosmetic!!" and I would have to pay $10,000 upfront!!! She wouldn't even be 'bothered' to call my insurance for an estimate! Just plain rude! Going back to friendly, efficient, $10 copay Sansum!!

I went to have an eye exam the end of April and was told I needed to see Dr. Paveloff for a consultation for cataract surgery. Initially, I was horrified. I thought at 63 I was too young -so not true. My consultation with Dr. Paveloff was wonderful. He took the time to explain everything so that I could understand the process and what to expect. Bea was terrific in explaining the cost and the breakdown as well as taking great care of my eyes. Even though I knew I was in good hands, I was anxious about the surgery for my first eye. That said, Dr. Paveloff and his team at the Santa Barbara Surgery Center were all supportive and helped to make me feel less nervous. Everything was explained and any questions were answered. Nobody rushed and all made me feel my wellbeing was a priority My second eye was scheduled for the following week. Knowing what to expect made the second surgery far easier. I chose the PanOptix lens and my results are amazing. No more glasses which still surprises me. I take great delight in that. Dr. Paveloff is highly skilled. His office and team are exceptional and work hard. From the moment you check in until the time you leave, you feel like everyone who works there does so because it's where they want to be. Terri Cox
