I had a very disappointing experience at Costco Optical, mainly due to the behavior of one employee, Alexa.
During a visit, an optical employee accidentally damaged my glass lenses. When I asked for them to be fixed, I was told I would need to purchase a new pair, even though the damage occurred during service. The interaction was rude enough that I felt the need to contact corporate.
After speaking with corporate, Alexa contacted me and said she had a solution. I returned to the store expecting the issue to be resolved professionally. Instead, I was made to wait about 20 minutes without explanation while Alexa was in the restroom. When Alexa finally approached me, there was no greeting or acknowledgment. Alexa held out her hand for my glasses and took them abruptly.
Throughout the entire interaction, Alexa did not say a single word. No "hello," no explanation of what she was doing, and no "how do they fit?" when Alexa handed the glasses back. Alexa simply walked away.
While the issue with the glasses was eventually addressed, the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism, especially after I had already raised a concern, was unacceptable and left me very uncomfortable. This experience fell far below the customer service standards I expect from Costco.
Had the best experience with Diana!
I've never had someone sit so patiently and help me find the perfect pair - and she made sure I did!
I'm two pairs of glasses happier, and a very grateful man. Thank you Diana!
Horrible experience with eye exam. Got wrong prescription from Bayside. She wrote another wrong prescription second time again! For refund reception told we need to speak doctor, doctor said we need to speak managing doctor still waiting for refund. Definitely avoid
Waste of Money - Poor Quality and Shocking Customer Service
Do not buy glasses from the Costco Vision Center. The pair I bought barely lasted six months before falling apart. When I brought this up, the manager, Alexa, actually told me that's "normal" and basically said you should expect to buy two pairs per year if you want your glasses to last. Seriously?
That's outrageous. Glasses are not disposable items -- they should last well beyond six months, especially from a retailer like Costco that claims to offer quality products. Instead, I was told flat-out that this is just how it is.
The fact that the manager acknowledged this as standard is even more infuriating. Costco needs to take a hard look at the quality of its eyewear and the attitude of its staff. This was a complete waste of money and a frustrating experience. I won't be coming back.
Absolute horrible experience at the Santa Clara Costco vision center I wait in line for my turn and my number comes up so I go and ask for some help to look up sunglasses in the locked up area. The attendant there is almost unwilling to help me check some of those eyeglasses out. I stay calm still cause I know that I still want to purchase and I want to get it done today. I decide that I want one pair of eyeglasses and one pair of sunglasses so now the attendance is going to ring those up for me. She asked me if I want the clear OR the reflective lenses and so I say I want to know the cost difference if possible before I can decide she says you gotta let me know once so that I can put that down and let you know the cost so I say fine. I'd like the reflective ones, she tells me the cost and it's around $140 so I ask now can you let me know without the reflective how much is it because if it's a 10 or $20 difference I don't mind paying but if it's more than I would like the clear. Without too much of a delay, she says that the clear ones that the difference is going to be $65. I say let it be in that case I'm gonna go for the clear one then finally she rings me up and the total cost comes out to be $128. I'm confused I ask what is going on, why only a $12 difference so I asked her if it's not too much of a hassle for me to get reflective ones instead she says it's actually going to be a lot of hassle for her and that I keep the clear ones. I did not expect this kind of attitude and I'm having to buy the clear ones which I would definitely want to upgrade to the reflective ones absolutely horrible experience, very bad attitude I mean what kind of customer service is this?
This is not Costco worthy optical store, they don't have a good enough selection for sunglasses and the staff is too rude and busy which is not what the rest of Costco is, should probably be closed.
Extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience at Costco Optical. I purchased three pairs of eyeglasses and have encountered significant problems with all of them.
First pair: The screw in the frame continuously loosens, rendering the glasses unusable. This issue has persisted since the first day, making them uncomfortable and unreliable. I have not purchased a used pair, this should not happen with a new pair.
Costco's response: All we can do is replace the screws.
Second pair: Wearing these glasses consistently triggers headaches. I suspect the lenses are misaligned, as I informed a representative who advised me to "try for a few months." Despite continued issues, another representative accidentally broke the frame while attempting a fix, leaving me without glasses. This back and forth took over an year
Costco's response: The prescription is over a year old that is what must be causing headaches.
Third pair: These glasses are incredibly loose and constantly slip off my face, making them impossible to wear securely or comfortably.
In order to resolve the issues, I contacted the manager. Unfortunately, she offered no real solutions and blamed me for the problems. Additionally, the manager repeatedly cut me off during our conversation, demonstrating a lack of professionalism and customer service.
Member for 25 years and had been happy with all employees till my last visit a week ago. Not going in to specifics but an assistant warehouse manager called Arthur has a major attitude and should not be in the Service industry . No matter who i call i get either transferred to him or no call back. I am hoping his Superiors will read this and communicate back with me !
