Really good and up-to-date frame collection - better than most shops in the bay area. I've had a very bad headache, because of over working and computer use, but Shaiyan was very helpful with figuring out the lenses requirements with my prescription.

A lot of the negative reviews here are accurate. - some of the front desk attendants had an attitude. - the equipment was not properly sanitized (I saw a skin oil or makeup stain from whoever was last seated and putting their chin on their machines). - very strong upsell vibes once they discovered I didn't have computer lenses and have MGD issues. I just wanted to see if my eye prescription has changed and check on my eye health, not be pressured into scheduling more $1000+ tests and treatments (that aren't covered by insurance) just because there's no copay. 2 stars only because they accommodated my appointment for an eye exam. Post-review Update: I saw they also charged my insurance a contact lens exam when I never did that at all (as you can read above). I recalled seeing that my contact lens exam allowance was initially available in my portal last month. I guess they decided to charge for that after reading this review, lol.

My experience at this location felt very commercial and sales-driven rather than patient-focused. A few concerns worth noting: Retinal Screening Pressure: Retinal screening was presented as if it were mandatory, and they attempted to proceed without clearly asking for consent or explaining that it is optional. This screening is not required, and it is typically an out-of-pocket cost. In every other clinic I've visited, the doctor simply uses dilation drops to examine the retina when needed. Pricing Tactics for Frames/Lenses: When purchasing frames or lenses, they first quote the full price without insurance. This makes the add-ons appear smaller after insurance is applied, which can mislead patients into higher out-of-pocket spending. Assumptions About Insurance Coverage: When I asked about coverage for Meta sunglasses, they immediately stated it wasn't covered--without even checking my insurance benefits. I had to insist on verification. Misguidance on Sunglasses After Laser Vision Correction: After laser vision correction, ready-made sunglasses should be eligible for coverage. Instead, they told me I was required to order prescription lenses with add-ons. In the past, I have always received non-prescription sunglasses through insurance with no issue. Now I'm stuck with prescription lenses at 0.25 power, which I didn't need and which feel uncomfortable. Overall, the experience felt more focused on upselling than patient care.

The doctors at this office are fine (not the most personable, but get the job done), but the front desk people will drive you insane. Coming here is not worth the mental stress. I've been with this practice for 3 years and every year something different goes wrong. The first year I purchased reading glasses as well as got my normal glasses lenses updated. They say they'll send a text notification when they're ready to be picked up. After a month, I only received a text for the reading glasses after checking in with them multiple times. When I went in to pick them up, I had them check on my normal glasses and it turns out that they had just completely forgotten to send a pickup notification and they found my other glasses in their storage. The second year, the doctor tried to get me to purchase the premium version of my contacts but I wanted to stay on my current contacts. She told me to try the premium for a day, but I knew that I wanted the normal version. I told the front desk lady to order a year supply in my normal contacts. Unbeknownst to me, the doctor had already written my Rx for the premium version and that's what the front desk lady ordered. When my order inevitably arrived incorrect, I called the office and they told me that it was my fault because the front desk can't change the doctor's Rx. How would I know though? They don't email your Rx information to you until you request it and their customer portal doesn't work. As a customer, you rely on the doctor and front desk having good communication for a good experience. Then, I had to wait another week to get the correct contacts and because of an invoicing issue, I couldn't get my rebate for the year. Every time I called the office to ask about this issue, they said that it would be fixed and it wasn't. After my third or fourth time calling back frustrated that the issue wasn't fixed, I received a lot of attitude from the front desk and the issue was never resolved, costing me hundreds of dollars. You might ask why I went back after the previous year's experience. I meant to switch offices this third year but the timing didn't work out. This time, the front desk lady kept calculating the incorrect numbers for my insurance and kept pressuring me to purchase contacts from the office (1-800-CONTACTS is cheaper). At this point, I was really done and I made an appointment with a different office this year. You would think that's the end of it, right? Somehow, they made an appointment for me without my knowledge or consent. I got a text saying that I have an appointment for Friday at 2pm and to confirm or reply STOP. I responded STOP but then a few days later, they texted me from a different number reminding me about my appointment and saying there's a cancellation fee. I texted back telling them to cancel my appointment and called them but the phone would automatically hang-up during their pre-recorded message. Finally, when they called me back, the person told me that I did not have an appointment and I should just respond STOP. I clearly somehow did have an appointment and had replied STOP and yet somehow, the communication persisted. Again, it's just not worth the toll on my mind and time. I never write negative reviews, but my experience with this place has been nothing short of frustrating every year I have to interact with them.

I went to this optometry office in Santa Clara for my annual eye exam, which was covered by my insurance. I booked late in the year and this was the only place with availability; now I understand why. From check-in to leaving, the whole visit took about an hour and fifteen minutes. The front desk and technicians seemed disorganized and even confused me with other patients several times. The technician performing the initial tests tried to upsell me on additional exams I didn't need, despite my polite refusals. After waiting another 30 minutes, I finally saw the doctor. Unfortunately, the doctor's attitude changed when I told her I only wanted the standard eye exam covered by my insurance and wasn't interested in extra treatments. The exam felt rushed and impersonal; easily the worst experience I've had at an eye exam. To make things worse, I was incorrectly charged a copay that didn't apply to my plan. Thankfully, the last staff member I spoke with understood my insurance and promptly issued a refund. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this office due to poor communication, unnecessary upselling, and unprofessional conduct.

They have a really great selection of frames, with knowledgeable staff. They are also very up to date with eye related medical devices. I had my eye check up after a few years and they went over many new technologies that I had never seen before in other clinics. Highly recommend

I don't like leaving bad reviews for businesses but I feel very disappointed with this company. I have spent a total of $3,400 in glasses for me and my family but every time is excuse after excuse after excuse. They told me my new glasses would take two and half weeks to arrive in November 2025 it's January 2026 and they keep telling me the lab messed up for three times already. At this point, this is beyond excuses and disappointment. I hope this help others to avoid this sad problem and not waste your money and time.

They jack up prices are are unprofessional. I got my son Ortho-K lenses from here. Since I knew these were expensive, I double checked and got in writing what the cost would be. They quoted $2250 for the 1st year, followed by around $400 for each subsequent year. When we went for the fitting, they jacked up the price to $2650. I tried to argue but they wouldn't budge. We got them anyways, which was a mistake. Fast forward to a year after, and we went for the replacement lenses. They quoted $1550 instead of the $400 that they had put in writing! I was pretty upset with the front staff and they were very unprofessional. However I would like to say that the eye doctor (who doesn't control pricing) was quite understanding and emphathetic. Anyways, please don't go to this place. It might look beautiful but they are a very unprofessional bunch of people and management.
