Optima Optometry

Optima Optometry has been my go-to for years, and Dr. Helena Huyen P. Nguyen is fantastic. She's friendly, thorough, and clearly focused on your eye health, not selling extras. The office has excellent equipment (including retinal imaging that other places often charge extra for), and the staff is always welcoming with zero pressure. They're reservation-only now, which I actually prefer because appointments feel organized and attentive. Best optometry experience I've had in the Bay Area.

Initially, the owner seemed friendly and helpful during my eye exam and purchase of prescription sunglasses. However, the excitement was short-lived. The glasses I received were defective, with lenses that didn't fit the frame properly and a noticeable gap between the two. To add insult to injury, when I brought this to their attention, they were unapologetic and unhelpful, telling me that this was the best they could do and suggesting I wait until the end of the year to buy new ones using my insurance if I wasn't satisfied, This is unacceptable... Especially considering the cost of the glasses: $300 for the frame, $57 for the polycarbonate lenses, and $15 for the tint, totaling over $370! I'm appalled by the poor quality and terrible customer service. Luckily, I have a comparable pair from another optometry to compare, and the difference in quality is stark.

Such a great experience here! The eye exam was great, and the rest of the staff was very helpful when I was picking out my glasses.

Dr. Nguyen has always provided excellent service and she has a great selection of frames at her office.

The lens didn't fit in the frame properly but still forced to take them as there is no option. You can see the how they tried to fit the lens in the frame. They look ugly. The manager is very rude. For any question I ask he keep on debating rather than explaining. He also mentions all stores do pretty much same. I don't recommend this store.

Bad service. I came in to browse for a new pair of glasses and contacts. The front desk person immediately asked if I had an appointment, I said no, then asked me to leave. I asked if they had a list of brands for glasses, the physician said no and told me to leave. I was in the market to get new eye wear, and I believe I was being judged by my appearance. I do not recommend these places, especially since I was being judged by my appearance.

As someone who has recently gotten off medical insurance, Dr. Helena was extremely understanding of my position when it came to costs. She was willing to help cut costs when possible which helped me out immensely when I had a severe bacterial infection case and medications cost $50+. The assistants were also very helpful and respectful. Wonderful experiences (I had follow-up appointments) and definitely recommended.
