The overall experience was disappointing. Communication was poor and felt unwelcoming, and the persistent upsell approach was off-putting. Additionally, my prescription differed significantly from that of my regular optometrist, and I received a surprise bill for a 'insurance covered' contact lens fitting (also I used to wear contacts before, so it's not clear why such session was needed in the first place), which raised concerns regarding clarity on insurance coverage. Would not recommend this place.
P.S. I received a bill from appt in 10/2023 and the bill came almost 2 years later 7/2025
Also from another review I learned that they no longer accept VSP insurance. At no time did they communicate that before the appointment.
Save time and money choose another place that values relationships with patients.
Total Vision has good and kind staff, and had helped me find the style of glasses I liked. The process of being prescribed was smooth and easy, which was definitely a big plus. Overall great experience!
I would not recommend this place, staff is very unprofessional.
Ordered my new glasses 3 months ago paid for Oakleys high end and today I was cleaning the lenses and the frame broke. Went there to see what they could do and was told I had to buy new frames. Ive owned Oakleys glasses for about 10 years from Optima and they have always been a good frame. Made a mistake and went to this place and got screwed, my gut feeling is that they are selling fake brands that look like the real thing.
So if your looking to get ripped off than go see them.
You have been warned.
I personally wouldn't recommend this place.
- I was unexpectedly billed for an amount from almost a year ago due to what they described as an "insurance issue." As a customer, I believe timely and clear billing is important.
- I wasn't clearly informed that that they no longer accept VSP--I only realized this when reviewing my VSP receipts. Transparent communication about insurance coverage is essential to me.
- In my experience, the reception staff were not particularly welcoming.
- I was charged over $500 for a pair of computer glasses, including $259 for a FLEXON H6064 frame, and later found that other online retailers were charging significantly different prices.
- I met some communication issues with the contact lens delivery. The first time I ordered, I was told they would deliver to my home, but in the end, I had to pick them up myself. On subsequent orders, I was informed that one box was not ready, which meant I had to visit multiple times to collect my full year's supply.
Do not go here! The staff has been incompetent for years. Now, after paying for a contact lense evaluation, they refuse to give me my prescription. They don't follow up to provide a return visit to evaluate the samples they give you, so you can't order contacts. Then when you want to get your prescription, they ghost you, refuse to give it to you.
This place unlike several other places honor appointment time. Staffs are really helpful. Dr.Kim was great. She was patient with my 8 year old who asked her plenty of questions throughout eye exam. The entire process was quick and we were out within 30-40 minutes after ordering eyeglasses. Glasses were ready within 2 weeks. They also print the prescription for you so you can buy glasses from elsewhere. Great experience overall.
Don't recommend. They are not in network with VSP but tell you they will honor VSP prices. One time my daughter lost her glasses and we urgently needed to replace it. I spoke to them over the phone and was confirmed that the new glasses will be as per VSP rates. Went in person and they wanted to charge me $80 for basic kid glasses. There were also multiple times where they charged me extras without confirming with me and thankfully i asked why i was charged so much and they had added addons without my confirmation. Shopping here was stressful.
Dr Kim was also nice in the beginning, but in our last two appointments, felt rushed and there was so much push for myopia treatment from them which made me feel uncomfortable. She would also come out and see what glasses you are buying and just felt too much pressure
My husband and I were visiting eyetopia for 6-7 years until last year. Dr.Lily Kim is great. But the staff is very unprofessional for the past 2-3 years. They cancelled my appointments twice last year. Also, the staff don't help with customizing the size of rimless glasses (which they would do earlier). I was told that only manager does the customizations and was told to schedule an appointment with the manager. Very long wait for appointments as well as to receive the glasses. When there are good optometries with walk-ins available here in the Bay Area, I would definitely not go back to Eyetopia. Waste of time and energy!
