Santa Cruz Eye Care inside Costco

I had cataracts & the specialist I went to asked me what type of lenses I wanted after the removal. I could get clear ones that Medicare paid for or pay for prescription lenses & never have to wear glasses.He said most chose the later. Not knowing anything could go wrong, I chose them. The right eye was the wrong prescription. The doctor said it was fine then retired. Then I began seeing double. I went to Dr Kook & she worked diligently to get my sight corrected but they keep changing. I just want others to know this can happen when you get the wrong prescription after cataracts & it's to dangerous to try & remove for fear of tearing the eye. It becomes almost impossible to to get my eyes corrected now. If I had gotten clear lenses it would have been easier to correct my vision, I do have retinal problems also so it's very challenging . Dr Kook is a fantastic optometrist, She hasn't given up on me after changing my glasses several times. I'm so appreciative that she is so professional with my problems. Thank you Dr Kook!

The Santa Cruz Eue care inside Costco continues to do a wonderful job. They are effective and efficient in their jobs and friendly and helpful as well. Dr Stuart and her team deserve a special "Great Job' award. I was in and out in under 35 minutes. The eyeglass ordering is a separate function at costco. The line here at 10:30 am was already 10 people deep waiting, so skipped that part for now. Maybe need more staff

Wrong prescription for both eyeglasses and contacts (re-done twice, overcorrected both times) at Emily Kook/Santa Cruz Eye Care, located inside Costco in Santa Cruz). Additionally the Kirkland Signature "Bonney Lake" metal frame progressive eyeglasses purchased at Costco only lasted two years before falling apart irreparably, and were the wrong width/wrong temple length, because the optician didn't measure correctly. (My eyeglasses are only worn occasionally, as I use my contact lenses daily until bedtime, and only use eyeglasses when I first wakeup in the a.m.). Based on all of the above, I don't recommend the optometrist or the optical department at Costco in Santa Cruz, and won't be going back.

Dr. Kook was awesome! Very thorough and patient, at a great price! I had formerly been seeing the same optometrist for 20+ years, and was quite happy with him. He got more and more expensive, and I found Dr. Kook could see me for an exam and contact lens fitting for less than half the cost. I was skeptical, thinking I may be getting lesser quality care. She ended up doing me better than my old one did. She changed my lenses to ones that are much more comfortable, and took extra time to fit me with a different prescription that helps me see better both near and far than what my old one set me up with. We found one lens performed equally well not being astigmatic, which also saves me money. Very very pleased with her quality of service, patience, extra efforts to make sure I got the best Rx when the vision test left more to perfect than my previous doctor would suggest..

They have seven workers and they work so slowly.

This review has been a long time coming I actually saw Dr Kook in December 2013 and she was very thorough in examining my eyes. I am far sighted and enjoy wearing contacts, but my contact would give me headaches, I went to see Dr. Kook for the first time and she noticed the previous doctor should've given me two different contacts the right eye is weaker and would strain which caused the head aches. I am very pleased with the service, clean waiting room and office. I am going to see her this month and know that my experience will be outstanding. I recommend Dr. Kook!

Be careful if you go to Costco to get an eye exam - their optometrist wants to charge you a range of $95-140 dollars based on how poor your eyesight is. This means that the poorer your eyesight is (for example if you have astigmatism) you will have to pay more. Do not be taken advantage of for having poor eye sight - shop around for a cheaper optometrist. I still buy contacts and glasses from Costco but will not be going back to the optometrist.

These reviews were surprising, but I think they're old? I had a fantastic experience with my appointment here and my experience with Dr. Stewart. Great deal, nice people!
