Dr Hsei is a professional and thorough Doctor and I highly recommend him and his staff. He took his time to explain everything and answered my questions. I appreciated him very much.

I have been a patient of this practice for years, and have always been satisfied with the service, but my last experience was disappointing. I needed an exam before the end of October, because my employer-sponsored insurance ends, and I will be going on Medicare. In early September, I scheduled an appt. There was no availability until October, which is understandable. But the DAY BEFORE my appt., I received a call telling me that MY insurance plan had changed, and I needed a referral from my primary physician before I could be seen. This was inaccurate. What really happened is that Bay Eye had stopped accepting VSP Vision Insurance in January, and was now utilizing medical insurance policies instead, and since my insurance policy was an HMO, I needed the referral. Why wasn't I informed of this change in January? Why wasn't I informed of this change when I made the appt.? Why isn't this change on their voicemail? I had to make an appt. with my primary doctor to get a referral. Then when I tried to make another appt. at Bay Eye, they would not answer the phone and I got no response when I texted using their Klara system to schedule an appt. Finally I just drove over to the office to schedule one. Then today I got a call saying that my referral was not approved by the insurance, and I would have to pay out-of-pocket if I wanted to proceed with my appt. That was a lot of hassle for nothing and very poor customer service.

They were fast and efficient. I got there early and they took me in right away. I was done before my appointment was supposed to start. The doctor took the extra time to explain everything I had questions about. I highly recommend them.

I was greeted with a smile and "hello", which told me that I was seen and acknowledged. My wait time was minimal. I was seen by the doctor, and he took his time to explain things to me in layman's terms, which was very helpful.

Five stars for Dr Cheng who is wonderful, wicked smart and very efficient and polite! Four stars for the waiting room and front staff. Feels depressing and somewhat dreary and the seating is cramped together.

I needed to change eye doctor when my trusted Dr Alamand retired. I have been really pleased with my new Dr Zhou, and the staff in the Watsonville office. My wait time is far far less now. Thank you!

I feel very fortunate that several friends referred me to Dr. Cheng at Bay Eye Medical Group due to their experience. He is a great listener, knowledgeable, takes as much time as you need to explain things, kind and thorough. The medical assistants are professional and friendly and front desk staff are friendly and informative. I highly recommend both the Santa Cruz and the Watsonville offices.

Dr. Cheng is so gentle and patient when the bright lights make it difficult to keep my eyes still. He invites questions and answers thoroughly, with respect and kindness.
