Shammas Eye Medical Center

Thank you Doctor Maya Shammas!! I had spent over two years (2022 to 2024) of searching, and had two appointments with other local EYE surgeons to find the right doctor for my Cataract surgery. I finally found Doctor Maya Shammas at the Shammas Eye Center in Whittier. Doctor Maya was a delight! Very friendly, personable, and informative WITHOUT the usual "I'm the doctor" attitude. AND, her office staff was very friendly, well trained and very professional. One of the previous eye surgeons I saw during my search for the right doctor was located in Orange County. Their office staff didn't even know how to administer a proper Cataract test! That was NOT a problem with the Shammas Eye Center. All of the staff at Shammas Eye Center were well trained, knew exactly how to use the eye test equipment, and did a fabulous job from PRE-OP to follow up! I had my left eye cataract surgery in JUNE and it went perfect. Also during the surgery, Dr. Maya was able to remove a cyst off my eyeball that another local surgeon refused to do during the cataract surgery. But Doctor Maya said NO PROBLEM! And then my right eye surgery was done in August. Again... a perfect experience from start to finish. I recently had my final surgery follow up and my vision is great! I no longer need distance glasses and my near vision has improved to the point I can buy cheap readers off the rack!! Did I mention that the halos are gone... and the sky is blue again!! Thank you Shammas Eye Center and Doctor Maya... you're the best!

Great customer service. Everyone was welcoming and professional. I accompanied my father to help interpret but thankfully everyone was bilingual in Spanish. The exams were thorough and everything was explained well by the staff and doctor. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend.

I TOOK my mother to see Dr. Maya recently and she was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGEABLE. The staff is also SUPER FRIENDLY and helped answer some questions that I had. I want to say the front desk was very helpful and kind. It was my grandmothers first time here and everything went smoothly with the help of the staff. Dr. Vu was very patient and explained everything very well I would definitely recommend coming here.
