Dr.Van Camp and his staff worked tirelessly solving the unique issues of my job. They asked so many queations and took all the time necessary. I felt valued. There are people who genuinely care and want to do what's the best for the patient

This is the best vision clinic I have ever been to hands down. All of the staff was incredibly knowledgeable, and I especially appreciated how Dr. Van Camp took extra time to explain my eyesight to me. I also really appreciate how he thoroughly answered all of my questions. From start to finish, I felt like I understood my vision way more than when I walked in. I've been to several eye doctors throughout the springs where I felt like I was being rushed, and penalized for advocating for myself. This has not been the case with this place. The entire staff didnt make me feel bad when I kept coming in to correct my prescription (It's not terrible, but I definitely have a strong prescription). On one instance, the doctor told me he understands i'll be spending good money on contacts/glasses, and he wants to make sure they are correct. It is evident how passionate and caring everyone is here at their job. I will 100% be continuing to use their services while we love in the Springs area. I recommend to anyone looking for an optometrist in the Springs. (We live in Fountain, and it is definitely worth the commute).

I just picked up my most recent pair of prescription glasses and I just wanted to share that I am extremely satisfied with the whole process of my annual eye exam and the glasses that I have purchased from them have been perfect every time. The ladies up front are very professional and really know their stuff, more than. Just secretaries for sure and Dr. VanCamp I have been going to for over 12 years now has been super helpful in understanding my needs as I have returned back to school while learning online and have customized what I need with my lenses. I appreciate that he takes the time to know and understand but also explain. I went somewhere else 1 year based on a friend's recommendation and I regretted it immediately. Academy Vision Science Clinic gets it right everything and makes it right when they need to. Plus, super clean office that is organized and tidy with a large option of frames. Thank you.

Dr. Van Camp has few reviews yet, but I can attest to his abilities because he made a hugely positive impact on me. Dr. Van Camp helped me improve my vision tremendously through both traditional methods and specialized eye therapy. He is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and caring. He went above and beyond for my special circumstance and got me to a point no previous optometrist has ever even approached. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to everybody for all types of eye problems. In fact, I've already done so on more than one occasion, and they all had absolutely fantastic experiences. I no longer live in the Colorado Springs area, but I still consult him to this day. He is that valuable. Please go see Dr. Van Camp!

Zero stars if I could. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. At the end of my eye exam I asked for my pupil distance to be measured and they refused to do it if I was not buying glasses. The doctor said "I was stealing the information from his workers and they were getting nothing in return." He has a packet ready to show it's not state law and says he only does what's obligated in the state of Colorado. Talk about doing the bare minimum for your clients. He talks big about teaching and helping individuals but at the end of the day he's only worried about helping his bank account. I went to the nearest eye clinic and they measured it for me no problem with no pressure to purchase anything, unlike this place.

I recently received a text message from this office reminding me I was due for a check, which only served to remind me of the incredibly poor experience I had there. First, the doctor did an old-fashioned "puff" glaucoma test on me and was very alarmist about my results, including telling me an anecdote about seeing a teenage girl with high pressure readings who was "going to need Braille to go to college." He then laid out not one but two follow up appointments to move forward. I obviously turned these down and soon after went to another clinic where my pressure was tested again with a more modern and accurate tonometry machine, came back normal, and the other doctor expressed surprise that any clinic would still be relying on the puff test. After the questionable test and inappropriate anecdotes, it got worse. I asked the doctor for his opinion on LASIK surgery, mentioning that my boyfriend has had it done and that I was curious about it. He said that he didn't have an "opinion" (implying that he had facts instead) and proceeded to tell me that the dry eyes associated with LASIK are actually open wounds that never heal, and that LASIK leads to people committing suicide after developing chronic pain and vision problems! His exact words were "LASIK and suicide go together like THIS" while theatrically bringing his hands together. Then, after more or less telling me that I was going to go blind and my partner was going to kill himself, he handed me over to the lady at the front desk who attempted to push me into buying overpriced new glasses. In short, I have never experienced such a breathtaking display of unprofessionalism in a medical office in my life.

My daughter and i have gone here for the past 5 years and have always been happy with service till this year. Staff has changed within the last year. Last year my daughter didn't find a frame she liked so the lady pulled up the rayban website and helped pick a pair she loved. This year I explained she wanted the same style but different color I asked the lady assisting if she could pull up the website instead she called Rayban which made it hard for us to know what they actually looked like so we chose black. She mentioned the frames looked small on my daughter (who was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and has been in steriods since dec and has "moon face") but didn't offer to see if the same frame came in a different size or measure her frames/ face, or to try on adult sizes. Optometry is not a field I work in so I'm not sure what the next step is when kid frames don't fit a kid face. In the end with no options given or recommended we went with the same frame. After about 2 weeks of having them I noticed they just looked uncomfortable and asked my daughter she said they were. So we went in to have them checked because when we picked them up we were told to come back if they were uncomfortable but were told there was nothing that could be done. I also realized after receiving the glasses and noticing a glare in pics that we weren't asked anything about what kind of lenses we would like and were told they just "went with last year". I'm very disappointed and have called and requested our prescriptions and will be going to a new office going forward. Hope this feedback helps provide training to help future clients.

Amazing staff and doctor. They take time with you. They don't rush you and explain!!! I've worn glasses and contacts for 22 years and never have a had someone be as thorough as them!!!
