Dr. James H. Lee, MD

Check out his health grade reviews. They speak volumes on his odd behavior. Unfortunately now I also understand why his ratings are so low. I came in simply trying to understand my options and ask basic questions. I did not expect the reaction I received. When I asked about a service this practice offers, something another physician had mentioned that I knew nothing about, Dr. Lee told me I was "way out there," gestured while saying it, and said I was "putting the cart before the horse." I explained that I didn't know anything about it and was asking for that reason, which seemed to further irritate him. I was not arguing or challenging him. I was trying to understand. Instead, he became increasingly defensive and condescending. I repeatedly had to remind him that he is the provider and I am the patient, and that I rely on him to help explain my options and wouldn't know if I didn't ask. It was very strange. The interaction escalated to the point that I told him I was shocked by how I was being treated. He agreed the conversation had become confrontational. Since my questions were still not being answered, I ended the visit on the spot and let him know I would not be continuing care with him. My eyes were dilated, and no protective shielding was offered during the exam, which felt unsafe and unprofessional. Luckily, I had my sunglasses. I will not be returning and felt it was important to share my experience for anyone who may be hesitant to post. I would also encourage those considering him to read a few other reviews (if you look his name up directly), and read some yelp and healthgrade reviews. There were many reviews that were definitely concerning. You can be your own judge. What stands out is not disagreement, but temperament. In a professional setting, the ability to communicate calmly and tolerate reasonable patient questions matters. I would recommend reaching out to your insurance company with a grievance of the quality of care was questionable at best. There is a pattern they will be able to evaluate. I will be doing so. The intake staff was very kind, friendly, and professional. The office was clean and inviting. This review reflects my experience with Dr. Lee only.

Beautiful, Clean and full-service office. The Complete STAFF is very congenial, attentive and prepared. There were 1 or 2 glitches in communication at the beginning of my experience, but they were very minor human errors and they were easily corrected, and my overall experience negated their importance. MARIA, JESSICA & REBECCA were very thorough and helpful getting me started at the outset with my pre-op appointments and prepping. I had the most contact with MARIA who was extremely professional and knowledgeable. It is clear that DR. LEE loves what he does and he does it very well. He truly cares about the well-being of his patients. I felt very confidant and comfortable in his care. He is always "present in the moment at hand" which is something you want in a doctor/surgeon. He has excellent vibrational energy and you can sense this when he walks into the room. His surgical staff is very professional and well-trained and is very attentive to your comfort and well-being as a patient. Special Kudos to ASHLEY in the surgical department for her professionalism, care and efficiency and for setting me at ease and answering my questions. She even brought me a second blanket-when asked if I needed one, and she brought it before I could even get the "yes" answer said! She anticipates your needs and fulfills them for your utmost comfort. Also, Kudos to CHELSEA who answered all my questions before and after my surgeries with the utmost professionalism, extensive and thorough knowledge, genuine care and concern. She listened attentively and answered every minute query I had, and answered in complete detail. And everyone else from the receptionist, nurses to the anesthesiologists really work as a refined and seamless team. The Colorado Eye Institute is very well physically planned, and organized. To have that many employees and staff members all work this well in tandem is truly an amazing feat. Truly.

I had cataract surgery with Dr. Lee and am so pleased with the results so far. My first surgery was 2 weeks ago and the second earlier this week. Dr. Lee is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and very good at what he does. His staff are friendly and efficient. I'm just so impressed with the overall experience and results. Eye sight is precious and I'm so glad I trusted mine to Dr. Lee.

Terrible! First appointment, he seemed in a hurry, short. But I scheduled surgery anyway. Second appointment, I was asking him about my vision and wondering if it was normal. He didn't like being questioned. Called my insurance if I could go elsewhere for the other eye and they said yes. They asked where I went and I told them who it was and that I wasn't comfortable going back. Apparently, they wrote it up as a complaint. When I went in for follow-up, he brought it up and said he wouldn't operate on the other eye. I told him I didn't want him to. The staff was aware of how he talked to me. One of them asked me how my appointment was and I just shook my head. I still see blurry as if I have a cataract from the eye that was operated on! Surgery was in July.

Rude provider treats staff terribly. Could clearly tell he would treat or not care for his patients well if he treats his staff this poorly.

Terrible bedside manner. Left me feeling absolutely awful about a condition that already is scary enough to have.

Best bedside manner I have ever experienced in an eye Doctor.
