I have always been happy with Retina consultants. I think dr Ramin is the best in his field. He's not only excellent in his field but is a kind Dr and encouraging. I knew when I started these procedures that there was a long wait time so I go prepared to wait. Do I like waiting ....no, but whole procedure takes time.
Also staff at front desk could not be nicer. All the nurses are kind and professional.
I feel I am getting help and that is worth the wait.
Beware of Retina Consultants. This looks like a money machine to me. When I asked my doctor about the long waits he said he sees 45 to 70 patients a day and they have to deal with emergencies too. When I asked a second time he said it was to "Test the patient's patience". My next appointment was at 12:00 and I left at 5:45. My car was the last vehicle in the parking lot. Retribution? My average bill was around $400. Do the math! I asked one of the front room technicians why everybody always went through the same procedure for both eyes when only one was affected and she replied "Accountability". Two for the price of one? And then there's those costly injections. I had a coworker who's 90 year-old mother was being seen every 3 months for a $6,000 injection. She was dying of breast cancer. She finally quit going because she said "Life is too short to spend 3 hours in a doctor's office". And finally there's the question of possible unnecessary surgeries. When I asked my doctor about the percentage of success for my surgery he replied "There's three outcomes... you get better, stay the same, or get worse". Duh! Mine got worse so I guess that percentage was high. So if you don't like long waits or being treated like cattle, the discomfort from numbing and dilation drops, a chance for poor treatment results, or finally the possibility of huge co-pays, then stay away from Retina Consultants unless you're going blind. They might actually be able to help there.
My wife is a patient here. Normally she is in and out within an hour and a half. Today, however, we were there at 12:04 for a 12:15 appointment. Didn't get seen initially until nearly 1pm. Then having photos nearing 1:30. After waiting impatiently until 2:30, my wife was feeling dizzy and not in the mood for the prolonged wait. We decided to go. At the front desk was asked if we were checking out. I told the lady that the wait was not good for my wife. She looked up her info and told me that there were 6 before her.
Very much overbooked there. Not very responsive to the throng of patients waiting like forever.
Second thing is that her last appointment the doctor decided to change the injection drug to a highly costly one. Even after insurance it was unreasonable. They had my wife sign a financial assistance form.Unfortunately, because she is on a medicare plan paid by the state, the drug manufacturer does not give assistance in those cases. Would have been nice to know before hand. We are facing foreclosure and every penny is critical to us right now.
I have to agree with the comments. Our drive is 15 minutes away with traffic. My mom is on oxygen with 2 hours of power on a good day. You get there and wait to get called to a second waiting room where you will sit and wait 45+ minutes to see the doctor for a five minute procedure. By the time its all said and done we may have enough power on her oxygen concentrator to get her home before it runs out. We were referred there and wondering if there are other doctors in the springs that we could see that arent a revolving door of patients. Her appointment was at 11:15 and shes just now seeing the doctor st 12:31.
Ok so they warn you about the wait times. However, it is obvious this is an assembly line of care. They are not understaffed, they just over book appointments. The dr. came in, gave the injection and started to walk out. No, like hey do you have any questions or concerns - no personal attention at all. When I did attempt to ask a question, kinda got the basic short answer as Dr Luu walked out the door. I would not recommend this office.
My family has been cared for here for a number of years. I brought my dad to see Dr. Luu and he did a great job for my dad. I brought my wife to see Dr. Ramin and he did super, explaining what was going on and what he was going to do. I now see Dr. Nico and have no complaints at all in his treatments, he also explains things well and makes sure you understand what is going on. We have made many visits with the 3 of us going there and are very pleased with the level of care we receive and the friendly helpful staff. People comment on the wait times but I think while sometimes you have to wait you are getting the best care you can in the area and they care for people from a very large area. lots of people get great care there. The wait is worth it for the best care you could get for your eyes and you only get one pair so take good care of them
I recently had a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Ronquillo (a vitrectomy), on August 06, 2025. I wish to complement Dr. Ronquillo, and also his staff during my post-op visits at Retinal Consultants.
At my first post-op on 07 August, I was attended by Ms. Eileen. She was kind, thorough and very pleasant (removal of bandage, etc). My second post-op on 14 August was also pleasant, as I was attended by Ms. Ally. Both staff made me feel comfortable in light of my surgery.
Dr. Ronquillo is my hero, having removed a serious amount of vision-limiting vitreous opacities. I can see with that eye so much better now! Dr. "Nikko" is a super surgeon, while also being a really nice man.
Thank you,
Steven C.
I have had and am having a wonderful experience at this facility, everyone is very friendly and helpful and I see Dr Martidis and Dr Viruni and I have had great care with them, and I highly recommend them both!!
