We moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado 2 years ago, and I needed to find an Optometrist, and since I did not know anyone here to ask them for recommendations, I took a chance and looked for one on line, and decided to call Dr. Noah Wiarda's office and made an appointment. that was the luckiest day of my life in many years.
I had 2 unnecessary brain surgeries that left me without tears in my left eye, and saliva in my mouth. And to add insult to injury, I had a stroke which caused my eye not to close all the way.
That was the beginning of 4 years of total agony. Without tears and perpetually open day and night, it felt as if I had sand, salt, and eye lashes in my eye. It wasn't just a simple dry eye to treat with eye drops, ointment, patches, and everything else available by prescription or over the counter, which I did. I was referred to multiple specialists, which I had to wait many months to see, who treated me as an after thought, hypochondriac woman, and sent me away. Even my own doctor didn't want to treat me any more. In the meantime, my eye was becoming more damaged, and taking the quality of my life away, which brought me to doctor Wiarda.
I had given up on anybody being able, or wanting to take me seriously and get me out of my misery, but I made that phone call to make an appointment, to get my family off my back. Thank god I did. I have been seeing doctor Wiarda for the past 2 years, and he has been trying everything possible to help me with, but unfortunately, they were not working, but he didn't give up on me. The most important thing he did for me was to believe me, validated my agony, and didn't send me away, and treat me as a gray hair woman who is making too much about my my eye, and what I am going through. He has given me an incredible amount of time, trying to find a solution, and to help me. As a last result, he decided to try this special hard contact, which is specially made for my eye, which has taken hours of his time, trying to make it as perfect for my eye as it is possible. At times, he kept his office open past his normal hours, teaching me how to insert the contact, wait and examine my eye again, to make sure he had the right measurements. His staff has been as wonderful and caring as possible also.
I have been wearing this special contact for the past 4 days, and it has been the most amazing little thing, giving me comfort, I never thought possible. And he is not done with it, trying to make small changes, to make it even more comfortable for me.
Even if this contact didn't work, or not work long term, I would have written this review. Now days, when many doctors or other professionals, don't take the time to listen, really listen to patients, and try to do all they can for them, and not give up on them easily, this young doctor Wiarda, is one of a kind. He is compassionate, kind, and understanding. Not many like him is out there, especially, if treating someone like me, is not bringing him a lot of money.
Whether this contact is going to be the right thing or not, which I'm sure, it is going to be, making that faithful call to his office was the best thing that has happened to me in 4 years. Just the privilege of knowing him, has restored my faith, when I had given up on others, who were not willing to take the time and help me. If anyone is looking for a kind, knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate, I recommend doctor Wiarda without hesitation.
