My optometrist referred me to this office, so I scheduled an appointment weeks in advance and clearly explained the specific surgical procedure I wanted to explore.
I drove 11/2 hours for the appointment. At check-in, I was again asked the reason for my visit and provided the same detailed explanation. After waiting 40 minutes past my scheduled time, I was taken to a room and asked yet again why I was there.
Shortly after, the doctor came in, briefly mentioned his recent trip to Vail, performed a very cursory exam, and informed me that although the practice has surgeons who perform the procedure I was seeking, he only performs cataract surgeries. I was told I would need to reschedule with someone else.
After a long drive and extended wait, this was disappointing and colossal waste of my afternoon. I was then released into rush hour traffic for the 11/2-hour drive home.
The one star rating is because I did get to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the way back. No reschedule needed, thank you.
My cararact surgery was very successful!
I paid extra for the LASIK correction of my astigmatism and now my vision is better than 20/20.
I'm very pleased with the expertise and care I received from Dr Randall Smith.
I very recently had a procedure done here and I can tell you i was impressed. It went so smoothly from check-in, preop, procedure, to discharge I got home and wondered if the events had even taken place. I believe my anesthesiologist's name was Kim and i also believeshe held my hand the entire time. The preop nurses, Katelyn (sp) and Cory had my leads hooked up and the IV in within seconds. Dr. Reistad was spot on and had the procedure done before the heated blanket cooled! This place is awesome.
I have been very happy with the care I get at the Eye Center of Northern Colorado. Doctor Gange and his staff are the best and they provide excellent care. They are very busy on eye shot days but they always take time to answer any questions I have and explain things to in a way that I understand. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. I couldn't be more pleased with their service.
To be clear: this review is of the organization that is Eye Center of Northern Colorado NOT the providers. All providers we have encountered have been excellent. HOWEVER the central scheduling system is absolutely ridiculous. You cannot contact any of the offices directly for scheduling.
On December 17, 2025 my husband began rapidly losing his vision. As we were an existing client of ECNC, given he had cataract surgery through ECNC and had later developed AMD, we called their call center. Call center staff scheduled an emergency appointment at Precision Fort Collins office. When my husband arrived for the appointment, initially he was told they couldn't find one for him. After a significant wait, the appointment was located and he was told to go to a waiting area.
After more than 30 minutes wait, a medical assistant came out and barked at my husband, "what are you doing here??" When he responded he was told by the front desk to wait there, she then said "there are no doctors back here" and escorted him back up front. The front desk personnel appeared and said "we were told you were back up here". My husband responded that he was escorted to the front and told no doctors were there. The front desk person then informed him that he had been scheduled by the call center for an appointment with a doctor who wasn't there. An appointment was made for the Greeley Fox Run office for the following day.
On December 18th, my husband was seen in the Greeley Fox Run office and told by Dr. Anderson (who was wonderful) that he had developed wet AMD in his right eye and needed to begin injections as soon as possible to delay the progression. We were told the only available appointment was with Dr. Gange at the Skyline Loveland office at 8:30 am on Christmas Eve.
When we arrived at the Skyline Office on Christmas Eve at the scheduled time, we were told there was no appointment for him. There was an 8:30 am opening but it was not booked in his name. The front desk person said she would check with the tech and see if he could be seen because "the doctor is very busy". She came back up to the desk and said "sorry we can't see you."
When we tried to explain the situation we had already been through with mis-scheduled appointments, she became defensive/argumentative and informed us she had only worked there a few months and didn't know everything. This made an already stressful situation that much more so. The other person at the front desk told us, "If you've never had an injection before, you won't get one today anyway. You'll have to have a consultation first." We tried to explain we had had the consultation at the Greeley office, and were again told "there is nothing we can do. You have to call the call center about it."
We left and called the call center. The agent (Tony) was the only person involved in this entire experience who expressed ANY compassion for the fact that my husband was experiencing vision loss and must be scared. It took 40 minutes on hold, but Tony secured us an appointment at the Precision Fort Collins location for about an hour later, where my husband eventually received the injection, as well as an additional treatment required due to the severity of his condition.
The staff at Precision were apologetic about the situation, and the medical assistant asked us to clarify that we had been turned away by the Skyline office. When we confirmed that was the case, she stated that never should have happened. She was clearly agitated to learn what had occurred, apologized and assured us it would be addressed.
When checking out, there was a sign with QR code requesting reviews, but asking if you were upset to please contact ECNC...the phone number given was the number for the call center...where all the issues began in the first place.
It's a tremendous shame that an organization with such fine medical providers can be so poorly operated.
The providers are great but the administration is terrible. I went in for LASIK on December18. Communication leading up to my procedure was lacking due to staff turnover and system issues. Their system was down for weeks before, during, and after my procedure. It is now a month later and I still have not received a receipt for my procedure due to the backup caused by their system issues. I have an HSA account which requires me to have a detailed receipt in order to receive reimbursement. I called and explained this to their billing department and they could not give me an estimate of when I could get a receipt.
I'm pleased with the results of the procedure and the care that I have received there. I hope that they can get these other issues worked out soon.
If you're considering this clinic, be prepared for massive scheduling failures and zero regard for your time or your child's medical needs.
We waited over 3 MONTHS for my so to se this specialist because he needs eye surgery. we rearranged our entire day, i took a half day off work, and we drove 30+ miles to be there-only to be told at check-in that the appoint was canceled and "needs to be rescheduled."
No phone call. No email. No notice whatsoever.
This isn't a small inconvenience- this is completely unacceptable. It shows a series breakdown in communication, respect, and basic patient care. Families who work, who plan ahead, and who don't have endless flexibility cannot afford to be treated this way.
We now have to start over with scheduling, adding even more delay to the necessary surgery for my 8yr old son. I would strongly recommend the clinic reevaluate their processes, because what happened today was beyond frustrating and absolutely disrespectful. I have notified his primary eye doctor of this interaction today and requested a referral for a different specialist.
Score less than one star if possible. Called for an emergency eye appointment. They told me the appointment time was 1030. They have a late policy where they'll charge you if you're late however they didn't even call me back until 1115. Then after they get me settled in the room, tell me I'll need a procedure, but the doctor still running behind and then I'll have to wait some more. When I explained that I had another appointment set up at 12:30 they just said go ahead and leave then. I passed up an appointment with another eye doctor cause this place was rated higher and now I'm screwed and can't get in until Wednesday. If they couldn't have seen me anywhere close to my appointment time, they should've never made it.
