Dr Gingold and his team are amazing. Patient, provided clear guidance, great bedside manner. Performed a procedure on my lower eyelid to address a chronic issue. Made me feel comfortable the entire time. He gave me new hope. Can't say enough great things about the experience.
I have been a patient here for years, and when I learned I needed cataract surgery I didn't research any other practice or surgeons--something I now deeply regret. I was referred to Dr. Rachel Lee's whose bedside manner was abrupt, my questions were rushed, and when I returned for a follow up and was diagnosed with a detached retina she delivered the news in less than two minutes with no explanation or compassion. Her assistant told me to drive myself --with dilated eyes--to a retina specialist in Manchester. Afterwards, I never received a single follow-up call from her or the office. The lack of care, concern, and professionalism is unacceptable.
The doctors are good. The problem is the "back office." I have been a patient for decades. Over the years the practice has grown, it has become increasingly impossible to see doctors and the staff always seems frazzled. My insurance covered an eye exam a year. However I have been without an exam for 30 months. 1) They reschedule appointments for a future date without consulting with the patient about availability; 2) They do not send notice of appointments or rescheduled appointments; 3) They are understaffed so that when you call you can be on hold for 15-30 minutes before anyone picks up the phone; 4) When you finally reach staff, they state that no matter what the history has been, or the symptoms are, they cannot schedule an appointment within six (6) months. The end result is that I have gone 30 months without an eye exam and cannot get in for the appointment they cancelled. Even after I explained the history of the administrative errors on their end, explained that I have headaches and watery eyes from what I suspect is a need for a new prescription, and why I believe there should not be further delay in the past-due eye exam, the receptionist stated that she was powerless to do anything to prioritize the annual exam. In my experience their scheduling errors and administrative bureaucracy, with no mechanism for triage, renders their medical care unavailable when needed. In my case they failed to provide timely care. It may just be that they have grown the number of patients to a level that exceeds the capacity for providing care.
They make people wait over an hour to see their patients. Im a medical professional. I see my patients when we make the appointment for.
They say, it's normal to have a patient wait an hour plus!! It's not ethical!
Dr. Koval is an excellent clinician with a wonderful bedside manner. The technicians and other staff are first-rate.
I have read a lot of negative comments about waiting! As a new patient, I called to make my appointment and was attended to quickly and the person was very kind and scheduled the best date for me and in the location that would be best for me. I have my appointment soon and will come back here for my opinion on the service.
I couldn't write another reviewer so this is the edit for my update
I went to my appointment, I have no complaints, the reception, assistants and doctor are kind and helpful! I got the care I needed and I didn't have to wait long! In my opinion and experience they are really good.
As others have pointed out this place requires you to be very very patient and either be a retired person or take an off from your job for your appointment. The reason is the wait times are unbelievable. I had a 2:15 appointment and after all said at done, was out by 4:20. Almost 2 hours for a routine eye exam?? No thank you, I will be taking my business somewhere else. Whatever they say in the reply, this place has become too big and crowded. They are getting the money and the patients, so don't care.
I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with customer service on 10/23/24. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, I was finally connected to a representative named Julie. When I mentioned my intention to cancel the service, she responded with an unprofessional comment: "Why would you let me send you over all the information if you were to cancel!" This interaction only reinforced my decision to leave due to the poor mannerisms displayed by the staff.
My primary reason for canceling is the lack of support I received when trying to arrange transportation after eye surgery. Additionally, I am relocating to New London County and starting a new job on September 3, leaving me with no time off for the surgery I attempted to schedule. To make matters worse, Julie transferred me to another representative whose voicemail indicated she was on vacation--not once, but twice. The second transfer resulted in a disconnection.
I also asked Julie to send me a schedule of all the surgeries, which I did not receive in my email--perhaps it was sent to the wrong address. Once I finally got the schedule and contacted my new employer, they informed me that they could not accommodate the dates. For Julie to come back with such a dismissive comment without understanding the circumstances I was dealing with was incredibly frustrating.
It has been a very rough week as I've gotten into a horrific car accident, plus moving and trying to schedule surgeries. Maybe they should be a little bit more empathetic to their patients and not be so judgmental and bold in making comments. Reflecting on my initial visit, where I encountered rude service, this recent experience confirmed that my decision to cancel was the right one. I hope the company takes these issues seriously and works towards improving their customer service standards.
