Dr. Brook, Jennifer and the rest of the team are excellent! I always struggled with double vision and not even Bascom Palmer was able to diagnose me. It wasn't until I visited Dr. Brooks that he was as able to diagnose me properly and correct my issue. His care is so outstanding that I've sent my mom and boyfriend to him as well. Mercedes was also great at fitting me for my new glasses with my new prescription. She answered all my questions and provided wonderful customer service. Can't say enough positive things about this place!
I started seeing Dr. Brooks around February of 2025 after receiving consultations from other eye doctors in the area. I felt most comfortable that Dr. Brooks was going to provide the best care for me getting my first scleral lenses which I put off for a decade as someone who suffers from kerataconus.
Dr. B got the fit perfect very quickly. We went through a few more fittings because the vision wasn't quite clear even though it was better than before. My vision was ok on paper but something about the clarity of things just was not right. There was tons of smearing, ghosting, and halos even while wearing my sclerals. The vision was acceptable on paper but from my eyes it was just not usable vision.
It turned out I suffered from Higher Order Abberations (HOAs) and needed a wavefront guided lens. At the time, Dr. Brooks did not have the equipment to do HOA lenses because the population that requires them is just so small. I finished the fitting period with Dr. B and intended to see if I could continue at another doctor for the HOA process.
Shortly after I got a call from Dr. B saying he just got a machine from Ovitz that can measure the higher order abberations and correct for them. I immediately signed up to be one of the first patients to go for an Ovitz lens and I'm so glad I did.
Ovitz has been life changing and has corrected my vision beyond what I thought was even possible at this point. With ovitz I was able to see 20/20 coming from 20/200 and roughly 20/50 with regular sclerals. I can't thank Dr. B enough for getting the ovitz machine during my fitting period and helping my vision become usable again!
I am so appreciative for Dr. Brooks and his entire staff who are just so kind, passionate, understanding, and accomodative. I look forawrd to always coming back to Brooks Eye Care for any vision needs I will have in the future!
Highly recommended, 5 stars, above and beyond in help!
Fast, efficient and excellent service! Mercedes is a pleasure to deal with.
The lobby is nice with relaxing music, which is a bonus.
I highly recommend them.
I am copying this over from my Facebook review so more people will see it. I have a LOT to say about Dr. Brooks and his staff!
If you need scleral contact lenses for severe dry eyes, keratoconus, post LASIK, or anything like that, I can't recommend Dr. Brooks highly enough. I've tried more basic sclerals twice before with no luck. They were too uncomfortable to wear and I'd eventually give up and shove them in a drawer. Dr. Brooks uses the Eaglet scanner to take a detailed scan of the eye's surface to create a custom lens. And he offers two different brands of lenses: Wave, which I got, and BostonSight. My first pair of lenses is a 9/10 in comfort, and I expect the second pair to be even better. (If you know about sclerals, you know you generally go through a few pairs and make tweaks over several weeks to get the perfect fit.) I can wear them for 10-12 hours comfortably and even forget I'm wearing them. That was NEVER my experience before with the lenses that you just try in in the office and then customize slightly. The two things that made the difference are 1) using a scanner to design the lens and 2) the experience and incredible attention to detail of Dr. Brooks himself.
Dr. Brooks is super passionate about fitting scleral lenses. This experience was completely different than my last two attempts.I drive three hours each way to see Dr. Brooks, and it is worth it!! On top of that, his staff is amazing and responsive on the phone and even by text. Most places these days don't even answer the phone half the time and don't return calls.
There's a FB group called My Big Fat Scleral Lens that's super helpful for those of us with severe eye issues that make sclerals necessary. That group is one of the resources that helped me find Dr. Brooks. Most eye doctors don't understand severe dry eyes. And most don't understand sclerals. You really need a specialist. Dr. Brooks is the man to see in west Florida.

Dr. Brooks is the BEST in SWFL. He's helped my kids with their eye health and correcting their prescriptions that were wrong from another provider. Dr. Brooks helped save my eyesight when I had an eye emergency. His staff is very knowledgeable and caring. We are patients for life!
Very friendly and professional staff. Dr. Brooks was very knowledgeable and explained everything. This is not a rush job factory but a very pleasant experience. They have the latest technology and are helpful with insurance coverage.
I've been going here for a few years and I've had 2 instances where they've charged me personally for something that my insurance was supposed to pay for. Both times I've been able to resolve with my insurance to reimburse me, but this last time I came was in for a new prescription of glasses and contacts. I have a stigmatism and the contact lenses brand I used was discontinuing so Dr Brooks stated I will need to switch contact lense brand. I have never used any other brand, the prescription for your contact lenses has to be specific to each contact lense brand since apparently the build of each brand differs. Therefore, I would have to try on new contact lenses in order for me to let him know which ones I like best and finalize my contact lenses prescription. I was recommended lenses that are generally used in comparison to the ones I was using before, I tried some contact lense trials and then I came back to let him know which one I wanted, got my finalized prescription and that was that. The one thing I was not told was that trialing contact lenses would cost me $100 out of the balance that I have for glasses. I genuinely do not appreciate this as I budget towards my new pair of glasses every year to ensure that my insurance will cover all of it. If I was told that having to trial contact lenses because the brand I was using was being discontinued was going to cost me my budget for glasses, I would have preferred to wing it with the contact lens prescription brand and choose any random brand recommended than to have that money taken out of my budget. Dr. Brooks is very nice. The office stuff is also friendly, I just feel that there is a lot of miscommunication when it comes to billing your insurance for services or products. Unfortunately, I do not feel like I will be coming back to this eye doctor's office due to this inconsistency, but I truly hope that in the future they will correct this and inform patients of things that will come out of their insurance budget for glasses or contents and things that should be fully covered by the visit.
Dr. Brooks and his staff were very kind and welcoming! I am from out of state and had an eye issue earlier this evening. His office was open until 7, and he agreed to check me out right before close. Even though I was the last patient of the day, he took time to be very thorough with his exam and reassure me about my concerns.
