Had a 1:50 appointment. Got there 1:30. The office was packed. When I checked in I asked how long the wait was. The receptionist replied 2 1/2 hours. I canceled my appointment and left.
There were 2 signs posted.
1. If you are late there is a fee.
How come he can be late and not me.
2. Sorry for the delay we are short staffed.
SHORT STAFFED. With the fees you charge there should be 100 people working.
For over 10 years I was seeing an ophthalmologist, Dr. Stacey Gorovoy. I only saw her and never her father. I hardly see any drs where I live let alone go to their hospital.
Today it was slow thanks to the Snowbirds returning. For some reason they overbooked my appointment, many others were also complaining. This practice is more concerned about how many patients they can see in a day, than quality care for their patients. My appointment was scheduled for 10:30 and they squeezed 6 more people ahead of me. I was finally called in around 11:30. They told me today I was seeing the father and not the daughter. I will have to wait until 12:30 until Dr. Stacey returns. I said I'll be back after Snowbird season. Guess what? I found a new ophthalmologist that will see me next month. I'm sorry to say this is what happens when people get tired of this nonsense.
I am extremely disappointed and devastated by my experience with Dr. Gorovoy. April 4, 2024, I went in for what should have been a routine cataract surgery (where the remove the old lenses and add a multifocal lense , Toric @180 degree ) but instead, I was left with serious and irreversible damage to my eye. After 5 weeks of suffering (feeling like multiple needles poking my eye, still blurry, glares, halos), a second surgery to removed the Toric lense and place a new Astigmatism lens on toric IOL @180 degree. This time they did 1 stitch. This caused my pupil to be bigger than the other and with a triangular shape. Not only was the outcome a complete failure, but the level of care and follow-up was shockingly poor. You have to wait 3 -2 hours and the Dr spent 2- 3 minutes ( I time it) with you. He did not even read the file, where I told the nurse my eyes concerned. He did not even noticed that the pupil was dilated and have a triangle shaped.
It has been a year and I still see blurry, halos, the sunlight and night lights bother me. There are days I cannot see clear neither to read nor drive even with glasses.
I would strongly caution anyone considering surgery here to thoroughly research other options and ask very direct questions about experience, risks, and complication rates. What happened to me has had a lasting impact on my quality of life, including my job, and I would not want anyone else to go through the same ordeal.
Dr. Gorovoy performed corneal transplant surgery for both eyes due to Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy. Both surgeries were successful and it is incredible how much my vision has improved.
Did I wait hours in the waiting room for my initial consult? YES, but you are seeing one of the premier corneal specialists in the country. Flew in from out of state and made plans to be there the whole day if necessary.
Does Dr. Gorovoy have the warmest bedside manner? NO, but he was never rude, just very to the point.
Is he one of the top corneal specialists with decades of experience? YES. I followed up with my local ophthalmologist and he was very impressed.
Had the surgery in the morning. Had a post op appt in the afternoon with barely a wait. Follow-up 2 weeks later to make sure bubble was gone and get clearance to fly back home.
The staff are obviously running ragged because they are busy but for the most part they were kind and accommodating.
One month follow-up did I wait for hours again? YES. And here, I felt Dr. Gorovoy was a bit rushed in the appt and had to do my own research into the details of the long term recovery process.
I realized its important to come prepared with questions/concerns as he is unlikely to volunteer extra information beyond the examination at hand.
It's a big thing, trusting someone with your eyes and am glad he was the one who did my surgeries.
Dr. Gorovoy and his staff are truly amazing! I have been Dr. Gorovoy's patient for 17 years and he has always provided me the best care for my eyes. He changed my life two times with getting Lasik Surgery and then Cataract Surgery recently. I am so grateful to him to give me the gift of sight. Dr. Gorovoy is the best eye doctor that you could ever find. Thank you, Dr. Gorovoy! :-)
Sandra Tielens had a cornea transplant on December 18 2024. This was a very positive experience and has been a perfect outcome. Very thankful to De Gorovoy and his very professional staff.
They have a system that flows very efficiently and quickly. His staff is amazing, caring and responsive. I was very scared as I was getting worse in my right eye, he immediately knew what to do and I'm 3 months out now and healing! Extremely grateful for him! Thank you!
Dr gorovoy was treating me for fuchs dystrophy which required a cornea transplant. The surgery went well but the aftercare experience did not leave me feeling like I had made a good decision going with gorovoy.
The staff are robotlike and gorovoy was totally indifferent, almost to the point of being rude, to my aftercare concerns. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. He should worry less about showing off all his degrees and relating articles written about him and spend more time working on his people skills!
