Dr. Brian Planchard

He took all the patient records and won't release them, horrible Dr! So many things he told me and did I wish I would have known more about him, then he told me I would never have cataract surgery. Because I had radio keratomi, what an idiot. Anybody that ever went to him knows he was a strange odd person. But he does need to have his business license Revoked!

This guy packed up the business and left without notice. His office tried charging and intimidating my mother into paying $2800 of a bill that was covered. Final payment owed was $58. I sat in on one of her appointments and was shocked at how he was just ' not a nice person. ' Not to my mom, and not to the assistant working with him. It was like he hated being there, or at the very least didn't like people. My mom is having complications since her procedure that is effecting her vision. I called for records to take to a new optitrician , well, when he left the records went with him. I have been on the phone all day, and still no records to be found.

Dr Planchard took over the practice at Advanced Eye Care in Panama City when Dr. Ben Hasty retired. I had been a patient of Dr Hasty's for 25 years so I continued when Dr Planchard took over. Dr Planchard has now left Advanced Eye Care, shut the doors and walked away. My last appointment with him was 30 days ago. I was not informed at that time or at any time since that the office was closing. Any doctor who can walk away from a practice with no notice to his patients should have his license revoked. I have no way of getting any prescriptions renewed and no way of contacting anyone concerning any medical questions I may have. I am devastated that in less than one year, Dr Planchard has managed to destroy the fantastic reputation of Advanced Eye Care, a reputation that Dr. Ben Hasty spent over 30 years building.

He did a procedure on one of my family members and did not adequately numb her eye before cutting off a cyst and called her a bad patient when she told him she was in severe pain during the procedure. Continued to cut and told her she needed to calm down despite her being in severe pain. Do not see this provider, go elsewhere to a doctor who will listen to you.

Brian is a true altruist. He's my brother, but also my eye doctor. He's also the doctor for my five year old son. Virtually no one on this planet knows more about ophthalmology than he does. He gets incredible clinical results. One lady on here said he overexplained something. That's not being rude. That's going the extra mile to give you information about your own health so you don't go on google. He isn't arrogant whatsoever. Honestly, he could have been a clergyman. He's a peaceful family man. If he came off as arrogant, it's probably just that he was busy. I'm a doctor myself, and since Covid we've all been very short staffed due to retirements. Another man said he'd rather be blind than go back because my brother talked about blackjack during his lasik? Have you ever been in an operating room? People talk constantly about every little thing. Doesn't mean he wasn't fixing your eye. And the dryness you describe is a VERY common complication of Lasik itself because of the flap that is created. I will tell you what though. Go to another ophthalmologist when you have something legitimately difficult to treat and you WILL go blind. Brian simply cares more - A LOT more - about his patients getting good results than 99.9% of doctors I know. Most are burned out from COVID. My brother lives to work and reads ophthalmology in his spare time. It's his job and his hobby. A true expert.

Only giving one star because Google won't let me give him 0/5 stars. Insults his patients, doesn't listen to them, and is extremely rude and cocky. Stay away from him at all costs.

I'd rather be blind than ever see this doctor again. He decided talking about black jack during my lasik was more important than the actual procedure. My eye dried out causing the laser to "over correct". That was almost 9 months again and I'm still trying to get the practice he quit to make it right.
