DO NOT COME HERE. There is a reason this place has hundreds of reviews and such low ratings.
I tried to book an appointment last week and saw that my usual doctor was booked out until next month. Since I didn't want to wait that long (I've only been here once before, last year), I scheduled online and selected the option that said "Doctor of Optometry," assuming that meant I would see any available in-person doctor. I clicked "find next availability" and was able to get an appointment for this week.
When I arrived today, I was told, "Are you aware this is a virtual doctor?" No one informed me of this during booking. Apparently, selecting the general option automatically assigns you to a virtual provider. I was never given the option to choose in-person care or clearly notified that this would be a telehealth appointment. That lack of transparency was already disappointing, but I decided to give them a chance since they said there would still be an in-person technician assisting me.
During the appointment, they asked if I was interested in contact lenses in addition to glasses. I said yes, I would be interested. Key word here is INTERESTED, as in exploring the option. At no point did anyone explain that this would trigger an additional, separate contact lens fitting fee that is NOT COVERED by my insurance.
The exam itself was identical to what I received last year when I only came for a standard annual eye exam and glasses prescription. There was no clear statement from the doctor saying, "We are now beginning a contact lens fitting," and no explanation of additional charges.
Afterward, I selected my glasses and was told my total would be $261. My glasses were $72 after insurance coverage, and retinal imaging was $44. The remaining $145 was for a contact lens fitting... something I never knowingly agreed to and was never told would cost EXTRA.
At no point did anyone review pricing with me BEFORE performing this service. Any reputable provider, whether it's a vet, a mechanic, or another medical office, explains costs before proceeding. This office did not.
When I questioned it, the staff member called the manager, who showed zero concern and simply said, "We already performed the exam, so we have to charge you."
I am a college student. Money does not come easily to me, and I felt completely taken advantage of. The lack of transparency about both the virtual appointment and the contact lens fitting fee is unacceptable.
I will not be returning for future eye exams.
This place is an amazing help!! They had amazing customer service and was super kind and eased when I came in with an urgent problem. they were able to fix my glasses so quick it was rlly surprising and efficient 10/10 would recommend to my friends and family
This was such an easy experience. Elle (Brittany) was the person in charge of my exam and she was great and then Tia helped me afterwards and she was also great. Both were professional and friendly. The front desk folks were also friendly, helpful, and professional. My only recommendation is maybe some soft skills training for the stressed out guy. His interactions with the rest of the staff seemed curt and dismissive. I would definitely recommend this place to others with emphasis on seeing the people I interacted with specifically.
UPDATE 9/15/25 - NOT happy now. Why? An exams are done VIRTUALLY using video. You do not see a human doctor. I very much disagree with this practice and will not return. In addition, Mother in law went twice and waited forever for optician. When she finally showed her the Less than 1 year old Glasses lens cracked at the screw of the arm piece, she found that no repairs done unless you bought warranty or want to pay a loooot.
Old review:
Myeyedr certainly is mine now! This year I had my annual vision screening done there by Dr. Martinez. My previous prescription was only a year old, but I could never see well using it, not so this year. The lenses are spot on. The ~$300 glasses I bought here are exactly like my $800 Silhouettes - maybe better. For reference, Leslie ordered my glasses and is very helpful. The Optician, Gary, is the best I've ever dealt with and I've worn glasses for 12 years ! Now I'm waiting for two more pairs of glasses I just bought; sunglasses and reading. they'll be just as great. **Update: the reader's lenses are too big so they're blurry. Gary said if I wasn't satisfied to come back in two days and he'd order a smaller pair. Super service.
Bottom line: if they're not your eye docs they should be.
Absolutely wonderful experience today! The gentleman who assisted was so friendly and helpful. I broke off my nose pads, compliments of my long hair. lol. This is the ONLY place we come for our glasses. Hands down the BEST customer service experience around, and they were busy! Lol. Kimberly and Lisa Feindt from Melrose
Always a constant wait. Always seems shoot staffed. Employees have an attitude towards us standing and waiting like there is something else do to. In my opinion a simple pickup should take no longer than 5 minutes. Instead it turns into 20 to 30. Do not recommend you come here.
Updated: 01/09/2026. Received a call from someone in customer care. They left me a voicemail to discuss this matter and I called back and left a message for her 2 days ago, but still have yet to return my call.
This is the second time I've used MyEyeDr. for purchasing glasses, and unfortunately it will also be my last.
The first issue happened during the purchase process. I selected my everyday glasses and then picked out a second pair of sunglasses from a rack labeled "Sun Tower," which was clearly marked at around $225 for a complete pair (frames and lenses). When I was told the total would be over $400, I pointed out the signage. The associate acknowledged the sign was incorrect and said they were "working their way around the store changing prices" but hadn't updated that display yet. The lowest price she could offer was $350, which I declined. Misleading pricing should never be the customer's problem.
When checking out my everyday glasses, I was not initially offered any lens upgrades. I asked specifically about high-index lenses due to my lenses being thick because of my prescription and pointed to a graphic on her desk that showed high-index lenses included anti-glare coating. I confirmed with her that anti-glare would be included, and she assured me it was added.
Now that my glasses have arrived, it's obvious they do not have anti-glare--especially since this pair is larger than my previous ones. I called to confirm and was told the anti-glare coating was never added. I now have to go back and pay extra for something I was explicitly told was already included and would have gladly paid for at the time of purchase.
This experience has been incredibly frustrating and unacceptable. My advice to others is to be extremely specific, double-check everything on your order, and don't trust the pricing on displays--they may be incorrect, and the store is not interested in honoring them.
Tia was extremely professional, courteous, very patient, light hearted and quite knowledgeable. I'm so satisfied and grateful Tia was my representative, to help with choosing my eyewear.
Plus, Dr Atkins is truly Amazing, extremely knowledgeable, thorough and has a great demeanor. He, honestly, makes you feel heard and welcome.
Thank you Tia, Dr Atkins and staff for all you provide
