I highly recommend this place for your eyes. The place is very homey feeling, any nervousness i was feeling went away fast. The people there are nice, the prices are really good,especially comparative to other eye busineses . Dr Barber is great ,took his time no rushing very caring and professional .. This long run family business is really great I highly recommend it to anyone .. I would give this place more star if they were available to

Dr. Barber and his staff took very good care of my fiance and I! Both of us got an exam and new glasses! I'm happy to have established a good eye doctor in Gainesville, that we'll see yearly while we live here for the next couple of years!

Had a great experience at UO. Dr. Barber was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time, explained everything fully to me, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I'm sure most of us have had the experience of visiting a doctor who dismissed some of our concerns, and I'm happy to say I had the opposite experience with Dr. Barber. He made me feel comfortable to ask anything and I felt like I was learning a lot about my eyes in general. The front staff were super friendly as well and took their time to explain the process. Scheduling was a breeze and so was getting my insurance processed. They also take Apple Pay! The store/space was very clean as well. No issue finding a parking space as well. I would definitely recommend them.

My glasses frames broke, and I needed a quick fix. They were able to find replacement frames within my price range and put my lens in in minutes. Excellent and quick service, and the location is pretty cute also.

Amazing people. Called in for glasses & contact lens fitting and was seen on the same day. The doctor was incredibly friendly and took time to not only hear my concerns about my vision but also to give me some advice on different glasses. He also said that given my stabilized vision I would receive a 2 year prescription, which was really convenient. All in all I really couldn't be happier with the service, friendliness, and professionalism that I got from my appointment. Will definitely be returning.

Do not go here. I went in for a routine contact exam due to my rx being expired and my vision wasn't as good as it used to be. The dr first said my vision shouldn't be changing at all at my age (this is incorrect). The dr also incorrectly jumped my rx up too high in both eyes (which I found out after seeing a new dr), he also insisted I had a focus issue and over the course of 2 weeks had me try two different (and new) contacts. After several days using each I told him my vision was worse than when I went in. He then told me my problem was too complex and he couldn't help me anymore. I ended up going to a new dr (shout out to alachua family eye care). My vision issue was immediately and easily fixed and I now see great. My rx only went up slightly in one eye, less than he said it did. Nothing was complex about it. On top of the issues with my quality of care here, this place was in network with my vision insurance. They told me my vision insurance didn't cover this type of exam and I had to pay for an exam that is usually covered. After my frustrations with the quality of care, I called my vision insurance asking why they won't pay for this anymore and they told me they never received a bill and the exam should have been covered. Do yourself a favor and see a different dr. I highly suggest Alachua Family eye care. Edit: Also this post was made using my maiden name. The owner claims in a response maybe I went by mistake. Do not go here.

I should have left this review a long time ago because these guys (and lady) are awesome. Just recently I lost my glasses and they got me in the same day, got a new exam done on me, and got me sample contacts the same day that were close enough to my fit that they got me by. Literally the next day Frederick got a trial pair of my exact contacts in and got me going. This is a great group of people and they'll do anything in their power to help you even in a bind (and around the holidays no less). Really good people and I can't say enough about them. Really cool location also.

I went there today. The service was excellent. I am happy with the eye examination (the 4 stars was because of it). But, the price even though reviews say it is fair was at least 200 dollars more than other stores (why I didnt give a 5). I only looked after I had already bought my glasses with them and the prices I got from as example Optical Outlet was way cheaper. I never paid so much on glasses before, I am hoping it makes a difference so I feel it is worthy the price in the end. If you are not on a budget, I think this store is great, it is local, it is family owned and have great service.
