May 2023: This is the better part of the Gainesville VA system. I don't mind coming here, and I actually look forward to it. People are nicer here. The physicians and PAs really take their time with you. The contractors who are in the optical center are very helpful with finding the right pair of sunglasses and eyeglasses for you. I needed tinted lenses, and they had 18 different tints! I was able to go through all and find the right tint for my light sensitivity.
+There are so many eyeglasses (for free & other name brands for a lower retail price 55-175). Glasses arrive within 2-3 weeks after you select the frames. Very cool!

Originally had late Dec appt but they were able to move it up
to today. Everyone was pleasant from check in to check out. I've used 4-5 VA optical clinics and this one is top notch. The doctor was excellent and so was the young lady in optical that ordered my glasses. She even repaired my old ones so I could use them til my new ones come.
Would highly recommend this clinic. I am grateful just to have the benefit of using VA optical.

The staff is great but nobody answers the phone and I've been disconnected twice just trying to find out of my eye glasses have arrived. I'm getting frustrated and will not just go pay for a pair. Not happy.

This optical shop has the worst service I have ever encountered. They take over 8 weeks to get glasses back. They don't have a phone line where you can talk to some. You have to leave a message and then they never call you back. The VA should fire them and get professionals to serve the Veterans.
I have been totally satisfied with the medical care I have received except for the Gainesville Optical shop. It is staffed by Superior Optical. They are anything but superior!
