First off, the one-star reviews are more than 5 years old and pertaining to office staff. Current staff is efficient and kind. No delays in returning calls or obtaining appt.
Dr. Poulos is outstanding, as is her support staff. Explanations are at your level of comprehension. Your input is sought and incorporated into treatment plan. A doctor who listens actively is a gift! After a cataract surgery and in-office procedure for unrelated issue, my 94-year-old mother (the patient) and I cannot thank Dr. Steven Manikowski enough for recommending Dr. Poulos.
During my routine eye exam, Dr. Ramirez confirmed what I suspected: my cataracts had gotten worse. I was having difficulty following a golf ball and night driving was a nightmare of glare. Scheduled my cataract surgery for today. The procedure took a half hour. Totally pain free. Everybody was very professional and genuinely concerned.
I would have waited to post my comments but I just got a personal call from Dr. Ramirez to see how I was doing...even though I have a follow up appointment in the morning. That's rare nowadays. By the way, the vision in the eye done today is incredible! Everything is sharp and bright! Second eye will be done in two weeks. No discomfort at all.
I don't normally give reviews but this boarders on incompetence. So back in Sept.of 2022 i had an appointment with Dr. Barrios for recurring dry eye, all went well that day. Aprox 3 weeks later i was still having difficulties with my eyes so I called the office to inquire about using contact bandages to protect my eyes while sleeping. I spoke with Brenda and she said she would have the doctor call me back. 3 weeks past and no call back from anyone So went back to the office and spoke with Brenda again She said she gave the doctor my message the first-time but she would tell her again and gave me some samples and I left. 1month goes by stilll no call from the doctor or the staff. Its like I fell off the earth.
Doctor Ramirez and the nursing staff were very good. The front office personnel lacked friendliness towards the patients. Our appointment at one o'clock we arrived at 12:30 as requested to fill out the paperwork. We did not leave their office until almost 3 o'clock. Not sure that I would return based upon my 1st experience.
I had to leave this review to warn anyone who might make an appointment here. I took my grandma here to get cataratc surgery as her vision was deteriorating quickly. At some point in this process I spoke to someone named mellanie or melly and and her behavior was extremely unprofessional and rude I can't believe they allow people like this to be employed in a place that takes a lot of elderly people. Infront of both me and my grandma she turned around to make a snarky comment about what I was wearing loud enough for me to hear. I've never felt so disrespected by someone in the medical field. We turned around and left. We had to reschedule else where and my grandma had to wait 3 weeks before her surgery.
Dr. Poulos herself is a very helpful and professional individual, HOWEVER her office staff struggles immensely with communicating professionally and effectively. I had an contact lens eye exam and they falsely told me that AcuVue2 lenses were discontinued and no longer available, which verifiably from another eye doctor's office, was not true. This practice was unable to complete my exam with the required contact lens fitment due to not providing the AcuVue2 contacts. When I attempted to resolve the matter, I spoke with a supposed office manager from Orlando (name: Charisma) who was blatantly rude, interrupting me when she didn't like what she heard and then she proceeded to hang up on me. Unbelievably obnoxious and unprofessional!!! It's gravely unfortunate that Dr. Poulos will not even have a knowledge of the incompetence and reckless demeanor of her "management." My family and I emphatically do not recommend these offices in Kissimmee or Orlando. Save yourself lots of time, energy, and frustration and GO ELSEWHERE!!!
Unbelievably incompetent. The prescription they gave me for my glasses were so off that I had to get a second opinion. It turned out that the Sph was off by -2.0!!! I've never run into a situation like this before. Also, the receptionist told me they were a tier one provider for my insurance. A month later I got a huge bill. Turned out that she never even looked into my insurance provider and now I'm stuck with a huge bill and the wrong prescription.
Once you get to see Dr. Poulos, things go pretty well. However her support staff is poorly managed and supervised. Nearly impossible to contact a live person even after a message is left.
