Eye Physicians of Central Florida - Maitland

My son was diagnosed with strabismus and had appointments for over a year. When Andrew J. Schneider first mentioned the possibility of eye surgery, my initial reaction was fear; so many worries, doubts, and questions filled my mind. However, I am truly grateful that I made the decision to move forward. Dr. Schneider and his entire team took incredible care of my son throughout the process. Their professionalism, patience, and compassion gave me peace of mind during a very difficult time. Today, my son's eye is perfectly aligned, and I couldn't be more thankful.

I wouldn't let a gold fish be treated by this office. Called last Thursday to make a same day appointment after my family physician advised us our son needed to be seen ASAP for loss of vision in the side of his eye after an impact to the eye. Was advised time was of the essence to have eye evaluated by his physician and we needed to get in ASAP. Eye Physicians of Central Florida made me have family practice physician fax over notes for same day appointment - did it within 15 minutes - fine. Called back, waited to see if we could get appointment and I am told "doctor who looked at your doctor's note says to go to emergency." Emergency? Why?? He already saw his family practice physician who stated great concern for his vision and didn't even remotely mention going to an ER. Was told they wanted to make sure "no bones around his eye were broken" although primary care reported in his note to them no bruising, swelling, redness, etc. to ever signify such a thing and was more concerned about retina. Broken orbital bones with zero physical signs of injury??? - COME ON! Let's be real. The office manager Tiffany refused to see us per the doctor's orders and basically told us no scan, no appointment. Left a child possibly losing his vision and a frantic mom to figure it out. Hell or high water through connections and a lot of calls, we found a way to have our son seen by another eye specialist in this community and the bottom line is - our son (and really anyone who is having issues with loss of peripheral vision like that) could lose their vision delaying care - AKA GOING TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM where zero ophthalmologists are available for an unneeded scan! Whomever the doctor is that refused to see my son - SHAME ON YOU - RETIRE - FIND A NEW CAREER! When the specialist who got my son in within 90 minutes heard our story, they were stunned and their exact words were, "who refuses to see a child with loss of vision after an injury??" I'll tell you who - EYE PHYSICIANS OF CENTRAL FLORIDA!!!! I did call back the office today now that my son is doing better and Tiffany (their office manager) did have the decency to call me back and hear my complaint loud and clear - not because I expect them to do a thing for us (nor do I want them treating my family), but because THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER FAMILY AGAIN!!! No child's vision should ever be put at risk by the same people who are supposedly trained to avoid someone losing their vision! RUN away from this practice!!!!

Good grief. Don't listen to the bad reviews, some people just like to complain. I'll give my personal story and experience with the following doctor below: I came to Dr. David B. Auerbach, D.O. almost 10 years ago with Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) and I was in complete fear about this new condition . Fast forward, and I'm ICP free due to my own personal health changes, which included weight loss, as well as my continued support from this office. I was educated and advised of all my future appointments and I was able to complete all necessary tests at the office because they have the necessary equipment, so you don't have to leave or go anywhere else to complete your test. I always felt I was dealing with people who were under a "tight ship" because Dr. Auerbach makes sure his patients are taken care of and doesn't "play around" or take 3 hours per patient like some doctors who decide to start talking about they're families or upcoming vacations. If you're looking for that type of doctor keep looking, because this office doesn't have time for it. So you're in and out after your exam and tests because I can guarantee, his office will be full. Don't get me wrong, they don't rush you out the door but, they don't mess around either. He's straightforward and doesn't miss a step when handling your eye problems. He's very, very thorough with his exam, but also straightforward. I see people complaining about wait times and my first thought is, why would you want to visit a doctor with no wait? So yes, there is a wait because he's one of the best doctors in central Florida so of course there will be a long line, just wait and stop acting like a whiny baby and wait your turn, you're in good hands Stop expecting life and people to jump at your request, if you don't like the office or how you're handled by the doctor, just leave, no one is stopping you. However, I'm not going to sit back and allow people to complain about an office I have visited 10 years and not say anything to defend them because I know they do an EXCELLENT job with eye care and treatment. So disregard the whiny adults complaining about "wait times" and and this and that, give them a try, I guarantee you will not regret it. Just be patient and stop expecting everything and everyone in the world to be at your disposal.

New patient here and our experience with the Maitland office was pleasant. Plenty of spaces to park, clean, and organize office Front desk staff was very nice and friendly, waiting time was less than 5 minutes. We waited for more than 1 month to see DR Gold and it worthed every second. He is VERY professional, knowledgeable and kind, he took the time and responded to all our questions and I really appreciate that. The four start review is basically because I was on the phone for more than 1 hour to make the initial appointment AND because the technician Eunice was really rude to me and my son, she was unfriendly, looked like she was in a rush and angry. She was complaining because when she saw my son's past medical history, there were mistakes, and she kept questioning me why that was wrong. Did I write it? No, it was a Doctor or her secretary, I don't have control over it, and then because she was in a rush she forgot to ask me important questions about my son's medical history and when I told her she got mad and almost yelled to me : "BUT I already asked you", no, Ma'am, you did not. I don't want her for my next visit.

Beware of this clinic! They trick you into paying a $50 fee if you can't keep your appointments. The last time I scheduled an appointment, I scheduled it for September 28th, but they sent a message saying it would be on September 18th at 7:05 a.m. with information about an appointment on the same day, September 18th at 1:45 a.m. If you don't show up for your appointment or call in the same day, they'll send you a $50 bill. I called to explain, but the person was very rude and impolite, saying there was nothing they could do. Don't go to this clinic. They make you wait over two hours to be seen, and they can do that. I'm very upset about this, as I've always honored my appointments, but I have two children and live an hour away from the clinic in Matiland.

First, this review is specifically about this place's glasses lab and optical shop. The doctors are great. Anyway, my wife had the misfortune of getting glasses from this place. They were defective. After trying to notify them of this for weeks through their perpetually unanswered voicemail box, she finally goes to them in-person. When she returned the glasses, the refund was short $224 of the price paid. When asked why, they said they'd check with the lab. Then, mere minutes after being given reassurances we'd probably get the rest of the money back, we were denied the rest of the refund. They chalked this up to a "restocking fee" for the lab. Here's the real kicker: When we inquired how defective glasses could be restocked, they said they wouldn't actually use them again because the lens prescription was too customized. Long story short, We pay a "restocking fee" for defective glasses that won't be because the lenses in said glasses are highly customized. WE pay $224 for THEIR screw-up. More shady than a covered porch under a hundred-year-old tree.

I'd give this place a 0 if it was possible. Dr Andrew Schneier is the most unprofessional dr I've ever encountered. Brought my son in and we waited a hour just to be seen, was taken back to a room in which the tech did not seem to care. They forced me to hold down my autistic child to get his eyes dialed. Then we were sent back to waiting room. Finally met with the dr, my son was not greeted or talked to he was ignored all the drs cared about was running the test. dr Schneider said I needed to restrain my child & that because I did not agree I was wrong. My son had previously been put under anesthesia to get his eyes exams. Dr Schneider then continued to say I was threatening my son's life for wanting him to be put under. I had to repeat myself to this Dr 3 times that I was not going to restrain my child, this Dr argued that because he was a dad that I was making the wrong decision. For the safety of my child, the staff and myself I did not and will not restrain him as my son can be aggressive when triggered no alternative options were discussed or advised on how to safety hold him. They wanted to force his eyes open when they didn't even have a way of disinfecting their hands because the water was SHUT off. For a dr to give me a PERSONAL opinion instead of a medical one is absolutely absurd. If you don't want to do the procedure then just tell us to find a different dr. We walked out of this office without finishing appointment. Dr Schneider if you are reading this you should be ashamed treating a special needs child like he is less.

I saw Dr Pandya today seeking a new eye doctor due to my previous eye doctor retireing. He was very thorough and I was very impressed with his care and manner. He diagnosed my issue and gave excellent and clear treatment instructions. And all of the staff and assistants were friendly and professional. I'm so pleased to find a new eye doctor offering excellent care.
